Ambient/Post-Rock/Textural bass playing thread

ugh. sorry!
thanks, good thing it was my « B Rig ».
When you use it, stuff happens, forward we go.

Game changer if any of you use the Koala sampler App, the Samurai upgrade finally added a 3 band EQ.
About %@$&* time!!!

27317060[/URL], member: 37282"]That is a serious bummer all the way around. Edit: amp, not Koala.
That cab has been twice to the tech in 20 years and both times it was due to the effin amps shooting DC into the cab.

It’s been on the road used and abused for over 20 years and what might end it is a freakin busted amp head!!!!!!

At least it should have made cool flames or something!!!
:roflmao:

Alright. One fancy bass sold. Pending replacement fancy bass is indefinitely on hold. In the meantime I’ve got a Nordy Acinonyx v2 in my sights.

Now there’s some module purchasing on the horizon. Time to make some decisions about the future of the rack.

that would be number 7, which i did want for a while. now? other things in the pipeline.

That’s very coy of you. Do tell.

Other stuff: hard no from me on stereo Mood.

Thinking about getting a rounded body for my #1 4 string — it turns out pick playing with binding is uncomfortable.

I am also having some uncomfortable Buchla thoughts.

i’m a tease.

it’s going to be a fretted/fretless pair.

uncomfortable buchla thoughts. old buchla or the tip top stuff?

Felt really old yesterday checking out amps at the store.
Nothing is rack mounted anymore. Every amp head is tiny and fits in a “special bag”.

Makes me want to ditch my 100lbs racked SVT 4 pro…….
Almost
:D
It’s been that way for about 10 years in my local music shops!
Glad I did trade in my crate 15kg 120w head for my 4kg genz Benz 600w back then ;)

Nice!

Honestly, the old, but it feels too rich for me. Clones are a bit cheaper, and I don't feel bad about them now that Buchla USA is issuing takedown orders to Reverb etc (not sure they're enforceable but Reverb and others don't want to deal with the lawsuit). It's more about the interface than the sound--bananas, sensible layout, space for the hands, etc. I really like my Implexus but sometimes I want it to do more, mix LFOs, etc.

The sounds are totally achievable in other formats, though. I've been listening to Easel records for a few years now and like the tone of that, but it can get a bit samey by itself. Though I suppose that's like saying bass records can get samey.

Probably I should just commit to "big" Eurorack modules and I'll be happy. the Tiptop Buchlas, Manhattan Analog, early Mutable, Synthtech, Verbos, etc. Basically nothing with tiny trimmers. Frap Tools is brilliant but I wish I didn't need tweezers to operate my Fumana.

Though bananas are cool.

“special bag”.

You said "special bag" uhhhhuhuhuh.

Seriously, I love my Orange TB500. I can lift it with one finger and it can rip my head off. The only thing is I need a mat on the speaker because it's so light it could vibrate off. These micro heads are less repairable than the old ones though, so you'll want something with a good reliability track record or warrantee.

In other thread relevant news, I read in bed last night that there was a Hydrasynth 2.0 update. Lots of interesting-sounding new features.

In mom news I talked with her last night and she was quite lucid. She's been hallucinating because of the pain killers, but nobody has explained hallucinations to her properly, so I tried coaching her a little.
