As you can see there is already cat hair on it. I have 3 weeks to return it if I don't fall in love.

So far I can report it has way more capacity than the HX Stomp. It also has way more device flexibility than the FM9 (which I am going to sell). Fractal really Has Opinions about which kinds of processing you should be able to do and how much (want two pitch blocks? too bad -- but you can have like 4 delays running at once). The FM9 is big enough that I don't want to use it if it can't replace my whole pedalboard, and it can't.

There are more plug-and-play bass options on here than the Fractal and fewer than the HX, and some of the user captures sound good to my ears as well. Wi-fi is appreciated. The effects themselves are a bit basic for the moment compared to a H9, but I've already created something like a pitch delay I use a lot on the H9. Soundwise the jury is out. The thing I loved about Fractal was being able to precisely phase align two speaker cab impulse responses, which did wonderful things to the sound. That's not possible here and if you're using 3rd party IRs, there is no clear way to do that.

I do not think they could have possibly crammed any more AI-related branding into it. Like if they did, it would open up a black hole or something: neural this, cortex that.

There is a touch screen, but all of the foot switches double as knobs, which is really great and easy to work with. It is a LOT faster to edit than the FM9 or even my HX Stomp. The nice thing is I wouldn't need to touch the touchscreen when playing it.

I'm thinking about returning the Quad Cortex (I still have a couple weeks to decide). I took it to duo practice on Saturday. It cannot and does not cop my fuzz sound well, though it produces a perfectly serviceable alternative fuzz sound. Thing is, I can already do that with my Line 6. Pitch shifting is decent but much "spikier" than my HOG. It can be tamed with a filter. The switches are a little close together for my wide feet.

OTOH, you can create wild feedback loops, the interface actually makes sense, and it is small. But so is my HX stomp, and an extra foot switch.

IMO, « decent » pitch shifting and « serviceable » fuzz are not acceptable at that price point.

imo, ymmv……etc……zzzzzzz
