yeah that’s part of my issue… I had a polytope that I bought off reverb for about stock price some 5 or so years ago!! IE / 3 leaf is silly pricing and near unobtainable locally in aus…
I was using the lpf in the kangra fuzz / filter which can be used as the filter statically as well as an auto wah / pseudo wah with expression pedal. It sounded ok but very finnicky about being stacked with other pedals…
Have to see what the non boutique builders have.
don't a lot of people still deify (or clone) the old boss oc-2 for whatever it is? (one wonders if that's what the mxr is.)

I've tried a few octavers, I've settled on the EBS Octabass. I can get a wicked dubby sub, and it tracks flawlessly.I kinda figure here’s as good a place to ask as any…
I play my fiver set to beadg. I’ve tried some octave stuff over the years (both up and down) and never really had that much use for them except harmony up with distortion sounds massive…
But keep coming back to mini analogue octave down pedals (just so they will fit on my board).
Does anyone here use them for that fake sub / dub sounds or to start a synthy chain sound (ie octaver, fuzz, modulation etc)

Nah, it's me. I think it's an ugly sound. Hate it. But y'all know my aesthetic preferences so that shouldn't be surprising.

I’m still on team OC-2, but mine is moded with a « kill the dry » switch.
Tried many, always came back to the boss.
The MXR vintage was cool, it is indeed a clone of the oc2, but I preferred the OG boss pedal.
Wrong guy: I loves me some ring modulators! I used to own one of the original Maestro Ring Modulators (designed by Tom Oberheim), still kick myself for letting it go several decades ago. And the only reason I keep the Iron Ether FMeron on my pedalboard is because of how well it approximates a ring mod.
But that Randy’s Revenge is still on my wishlist.
Octavers: I have an 80s era OC-2 that sounds great. I have also used octave down from EHX micro POG, and my Eventides. They also work well live but I’d give the OC-2 an edge on sound.
Sold all my IE pedals. Huge respect for him though. Very smart designs.
I had another glitch free practice this week with the replacement H90. Cautiously optimistic.

Made a completely different mix of my recent collaboration with the koto player:
This was all the direct-recorded stuff - minus the floor tom, so it has a different feel at the last part when I started playing more like a bassist. Had fun manipulating stuff in Reaper (eq, volume, etc.) - I finally purchased one of the Valhalla reverbs - that's what's on the koto, the original signal is a "guitar pickup" placed under the base of the koto - presumably a contact pickup, gotta look into that. Was recorded direct to my Zoom H6 - I think it sounds really good, just needs some high-pass filter to get rid of booziness when he physically hits the instrument. Speaking of which, I love that he (Brian, the koto player) is so aware of the various aspects of the instrument, and music itself - he knows how to improvise!
Next step - incorporate bass! I'm thinking Alembic 5-string (the Stanley Clarke Signature Squared) thru Moogerfooger filter for at least one voice. This next performance is in about 10 days! Yikes! lol

I told myself I’d go to bed an hour ago. But first 10 minutes of synth patching. Somehow I forgot how long 10 minutes is.
I think it's just the overall sound of what it does. I've heard a lot of RM's and I've never been "that sounds great." It's just an aesthetic I don't like overall.

On the ‘list’ for sure. Super interesting concept. Gonna wait a week or two as I’m still trying to learn a couple new things. Been enjoying the Arturia EFX Motions and want to get more fluent.
it’s probably laziness, but I haven’t hooked up any of my pedals in a year or so. I use a few fx in my eurorack case, but rarely turn that on these days either :/
Most of the time on my M8, Syntakt or EssenceFM, I use the internal fx just to catch a vibe, then turn em all off while recording them into Logic. Then I’ll use plug ins, but I’m not playing this stuff out live any time soon anyway. Just easier a better sounding to use great plugins…certainly more affordable.
The time is coming soon though when I’ll get all the pedals back on the board for trippy bass nonsense. For now all my trippy bass stuff is through the eurorack. Data Bender, Arbhar, Mimeophon and filters.
It sounds pretty great to me! I have the Gamechanger Light pedal which can be cool for spring reverb
I know this ain't ambient/textural but it has that psychedelic element to the visuals... this was done with AI images. I think it's done by creating a lot of variations on one created image, and then they're put together, giving one that same feeling one gets when trippin' balls. Not a big 80's Genesis fan, but I always did like this one... the visuals really suck me in, though. Dark, too.
Plus, synths, so I guess it's relevant. Not a big fan of synthwave but I think this is pretty damn well-put together.
