A true man of the world.I’ve pretty much done the rounds.
From jazz heads, hippies ,K heads, cocaine cockroaches ,punks, metal gals,drunks, gear nerds, hipsters, booking agencies, Hells Angels……and then some.
Even grocery store openings!!!!
This is the closest I ever got to playing at a grocery store - Macy's with Wavy Gravy selling Grateful Dead ties, must by 1996 - we were in front of the men's underwear section and were told that we couldn't play without shirt and tie because that's what everyone "working for Macy's" had to wear - they almost didn't let us play because the guitarist (not in pic) wouldn't take his hat off - he finally relented...I’ve pretty much done the rounds.

Before I left music and the east coast entirely later that year, I mostly played for dancing hippies lol

Yo, it's been a while since I checked in here. Still attempting to fully retire from electronics work, but at least it's mostly just for my own edification at this point. Bass playing is down to a third or fourth tier amusement by now and I have other people to do that for me most of the time now. So I sold off my one and only fretted BG, which was also my only fiver. Literally twenty minutes later I bought my first ever acoustic guitar, an import model myrtlewood Breedlove :
I tried 12 guitars in one morning while visiting three shops around Vancouver WA, the sort of road trip I hadn't done in decades. I was extremely impressed by the service and selection I encountered, ordering online would have been a lot less fun and way more of a crapshoot for sure. The web sales manager at one store found me two killer candidates still in the box in the warehouse and sent me pics within a couple of hours of my inquiry, on a Sunday morning no less. And then he sent them to one for the stores on hold for me for a week so I could test them at my leisure. I also was able to try several wood combinations of more or less the same model, and an Oregon built version, which was highly instructive. No buyer's remorse here, I went quite deep on vetting my purchase and couldn't be happier. The other finalist had a super bling figured top, and sound great too, but straight grain myrtlewood is less common and probably more desirable for a solid top, so I went with that.
So the new rabbit hole is electro-acoustic sound reinforcement, of course. Just finished my Dojo blend pedal recently:
The purple knob brings in quasi-verb/chorus ambiance via the piezo pickup on the resonator, or whale noises as desired. So on to something for the guitar next. Cabintech sent me a "digital BBD" emulator board for beta testing recently, which I finally got up and running yesterday. This thing kills, the noise floor is insanely good so far. It's meant to be able to work in many old school analog delay applications, but of course I have other ideas. Dual morphing LFO modulation, here I come. Any recommendations from the Eurorack crew here would be gratefully perused, especially for DIY oriented bare PCBs. Pedal control should be very easy to implement as well. Naturally, since the maker made this chip super easy to use with analog peripherals, I am taking a good look at a microcontroller based solution.

Where can I find more info on your Dojo pedal? My piezo-equipped Yamaha acoustic guitar does not sound amazing when I plug it into an amp, so I'm semi-sort of in the market for a buffer preamp or something to make that axe usable in an amplified scenario.

Where can I find more info on your Dojo pedal? My piezo-equipped Yamaha acoustic guitar does not sound amazing when I plug it into an amp, so I'm semi-sort of in the market for a buffer preamp or something to make that axe usable in an amplified scenario.
Bob, PM me and I'll run you through some options for something more germane to your exact wants and needs. I rarely sell anything myself but the authorized builder mode is a possibility if rolling your own is not in your wheelhouse, and to be clear I have no financial stake in that arrangement. There are some details on the Dojo pedal in my long open source preamp thread in Pickups and Electronics, but I wouldn't want to wish anyone into trying to find hard info in that huge meandering mess! So far this is what I've been liking the most for my Breedlove through my AudioKinesis TC112, FWIW:
That pedal is optimized for piezo pickup acoustic guitars, with or without onboard preamps involved. That pedal should still work great with your bass or electric bass too, FWIW. It's in an always on "desktop" format, but there are footswitchable ones too.
The upright player at my Friday night jam recently bought a similar Breedlove bass BTW, I haven't actually seen it yet though. Don't think it's myrtle, but don't know for sure. The bass response on my myrtle guitar is crazy good for being a small Concert body style, I'd expect that to hold true for bass too.

Seriously. Though I wonder if this workaround will help. I’m mostly Bitwig at this point but with my year of travel will be collaborating with some people in Live so I bought the update. Will see how I like it.

There shouldn’t be ANY workarounds for the latency issues in Live.
It should just work freakin normally!!!
And yes I use Live because I’m way to lazy to learn another DAW

NBD a few days ago... discussed ad nauseum in other threads, but in case you missed it... 8 lbs, 2 oz. My aging body needed this. Also got that elusive pedal that needed to fill my pedalboard hole, which I'll tell ya about when I have more time, it's really cool.
Did come with Louis Johnson bass lines pre installed?
It actually came with some of Louis Johnson's ashes. I sprinkled a little on my fingers before I play and all of a sudden, I can slap, and quite good, too.
Pretty interesting variety of unconventional bass sounds out of the helix.
