Last night, at age 54, for the first time ever, for our album launch, I played a venue with its own SVT 8x10. I brought my Orange head, plugged in, and the sound was divine. Best tone I’d ever had. Didn’t hurt that the live sound engineer was a bassist, and the small room was full. Definitely a memory for life.

There is no *****ing way I would ever haul one of those around myself, though.

Nothing beats a good 810 for big gigs. But not all 810 sound good, I have no idea which ones are the “good” ones but some are crap. Ive had a few that where really bad (maybe defective??)
I also played a few times with a mesa 610 as a backline (i used another band’s cab for a small stretch of gigs) and it was really good also, WAY better than the ampeg 610.

I have a cat also, but I’m allergic and we’ve been trying to give her away without any success.
(wife wants a cat, I say i’m allergic and cant…..we get a cat…….wait how did this happen??…..)
our dog takes up most of the space now anyways

We have a cat who's confined to upstairs since we also have two dogs, one of whom is a psychopath of a chihuahua. So poor Rico has never known the joy of sitting on a synthesizer, or even a synth box. The gear is probably safer for it, as he has no respect for technology. One of his methods of getting attention is jumping on top of the dresser and scratching at the screen of the LCD TV, simply because he knows it pisses me off.

8x10s: used an svt 8x10 back in the 70s with a v4b head, really liked the sound. of course i had a bad back at the age of 16 because i would move it by myself (bad idea for a short guy). after that i started to go smaller and smaller and looked down on the big amp. then i was doing the high roller new year's eve party at caesars in las vegas. the back line was an svt head with 8x10. i scoffed at it until i plugged it; i wasn't a loud gig, but the amp sounded amazing for the music. next year was same thing. by the third year i'm thinking, "yes svt!" i get there and it's a gk into a hartke 4x10. :mad:

cats: when i moved in with my then-girlfriend (now spouse), she had two cats. one really hated me. it would get bladder infections and share the love with many of my items (clothes, gigbags, etc.). once i came home to find that it had somehow sprayed the record heads on my tascam 38. how does a cat know how to do that?

One of my old cats that had the IQ of a door knob, quite possibly the dumbest most empty personality cat ever .......anyways
He had explosive diarrhea on about 400$ worth of cables, power supplies and utilities.
I almost threw out the cat with the gear that time.

SVT + 810 is indeed a great combo, had a chance to play through one a few times and loved it. All that power at your fingertips is intoxicating. But yeah, no way can I haul that thing around, and no place to store it in my house anyway.

I even got to meet a euro TB member in person.

I probably should’ve ordered a bass and carried it home too. But I wasn’t thinking.

I was supposed to go see a black metal festival show with Emperor headlining but it was 90 minutes away and 50-60 degrees out with only standing. I wasn’t up for that.

The highest string is a 0.018p tuned to D (D4 maybe? I'm not sure). It doesn't feel terribly out of place, and the thinner string to hit higher registers seems like a more natural fit for the instrument than jamming some fat string in there to try to go really low.

So you went for a higher overall tuning than what I sent it as? I think that’s a reasonable idea. I know they have some huge strings allowing you to tune really low for that scale length. After going piccolo on my other bass I think I would’ve tried it on the Miezo.

Sweet. I'm traveling, too. I'm out in Nebraska for a 75 mile gravel bike race, and it's supposed to be upper 90's. Which of you fine folks get my basses when I don't make it back?
