Kill that gig my friend. Its cool to have some news from someone. Thread has slowed down quite a bit. But guess life happens.

We start recording our new album on the July 25th.
Bass and drums will be recorded live together.

Mostly in the woodshed for that.
We want to make it as smooth as possible to avoid punch in’s as much as possible.

Also in the woodshed playing some hip hop funk type of stuff.
Still haven’t found my perfect work flow for recording.
I think I’ll never be happy in that area, I’ll just put in the work.

Yes, but "only" 8 and no MIDI recall (you have to scroll through them using colored/numbered LEDs to represent each). I got mine yesterday and so far am really impressed- particularly impressive are the filter and the tracking. Also that they managed to get 18 different adjustable knob parameters on such a small device- it was clearly very well thought out

id use it as a sub pedal or 808 bass for very heavy low end stuff.

does it do that kind of tones?

do you use a low B (or lower) string and how does it track?

do you play synth type lines on electric sometimes?
I usually use the classic OC2 tone with a little grit or my envelope filter set to Bill Laswell setting for my needs.
dont really need anything else.
I have to admit that MXR pedal looks quite well made, but damn, that price its like 400 cad plus taxes over here in Quebec.
(they release on the 10th of july here i believe)

The filter is definitely capable of really thick and punchy (it is 4-pole and has pretty tweakable envelope controls), so I think it’d be able to do some pretty great sub sounds. There is no way to modulate pitch with an envelope though, so you can’t do that signature “boingy” 808 thing where it acts a bit like a drum head. The filter does have a lot of range in the fast attack/fast decay sounds to get really snappy sub hits that I love though. There is also no sine wave, though personally I prefer a more harmonic waveform with filter anyway

I still have a C4 around that I found some pretty massive 808 community presets for that I should try to match as best I can with the MXR. The Future Impact is probably the most capable as far as dialing in those kinds of tones as it has full ADSR controls and patch-ability in the editor.

I have a couple basses with low B, I haven’t tried them yet with the MXR- I’ll try to update when I’ve had the opportunity! I will say that the Future Impact v4 is thus far the best I’ve tried with low notes, though I still usually play up the neck with any synth pedal just out of habit

yeah, sometimes. most recently xeroscape deluxe, subterranea, a bit crusher/fuzz—in some combination or all.

right. that’s why i asked someone who has the pedal and a 5-string. what i heard on the vid was 5-string, not 6-string, but 6-might make it more interesting.

my guess is that the sub starts getting wonky around the G on the E string (a usual trouble spot).

not sure i need this pedal now (years ago, would’ve jumped at it).

Time stamp of said video of the wonkey sub??

I got my “synth” needs covered as mentioned above, but it definitely looks a a well thought out pedal.

If I need synth I just bust out my Radial instrument switcher as use the Microfreak with a few pedals through my bass amp.
It sounds freakin huge, am amazed every time I use it with my Ampeg SVT 4 pro

Picked up an Erica Echolocator and I think it’s gotta go back. Nothing about the sound impressed me, unlike the Zen Delay and the Nightverb. It wasn’t bad, but not inspiring. The built in reverb is weird. The shimmer was interesting and might be useful for some sound design exploration. The modulation and orbit was odd and didn’t feel intuitive to me. The filter felt hard to control. All of that seemed like stuff that could be overcome with a little use and familiarity. However the 50 presets didn’t strike me as useable on bass, and initializing a patch requires the user to manually adjust every knob and create/save an init patch. I don’t have time for this.

well i said it was my “guess,” so nothing to go on. the vid i saw didn’t really dwell on the B string so much—hard to tell why.
