I’ve been pleased with the GFI Specular Tempus. Sounds really good, has midi if you need that and a great computer editor via usb to design, tweak and save your own patches

The Empress Reverb has some nifty reverb engines. Plus it’s stereo, has MIDI and expression control, and now freeze, and can function as a 5 loop looper. It runs off a standard 9v center negative supply too.

The Empress Zoia has some good Reverb engines, and you can modify them pretty significantly if you desire.

Those are pretty irrefutably high-quality, but I think both are ultimately too much pedal for me, and I'd like to spend $300 at the limit new or used (sorry, should've included this in my earlier post)

I had a Rever, it was rather limited in its usefulness, got rid of it. For me, nothing beats the Eventide Space, as those BLACKHOLE ones are the pinnacle of ambience.

If that's too pricey, I picked up a Shiftline A+ Astronaut III, and I'm very happy with it. Easy to use, and not only does it have a lot of ambient/psychedelic options, it also has plate, spring and hall, so you can use it conventionally, if you need to.

I'm glad you posted this... I was somewhat interested in the Rever... That Shiftline pedal looks JAM PACKED! Pretty reasonably priced as well...

I drooled over the Rever when I first heard it. What really killed it for me was thinking I could use the Hall reverb in a normal context - even at the minimal settings, it's too much. I got it for my Moog Sub37, so I also just wanted a conventional verb, and the Astronaut covers everything.

I tried one today also (did a random "these reverbs intrigue me" shoot-out with the Caroline Meteore, the Minim, and the Atmosphere). I liked the Atmosphere fine, but not quite to my taste. But then I only dipped my toe in it

Has anyone used the reverbs on the H9 Max? I'm considering those, but have never played one

Any thought to the Seymour Duncan options? The Silver Lake is just a hair over your budget. Another possible used/sale item to consider.

I've looked at the H9 but haven't tried one. A friend loves his. My beef with them is minimal knobs for live tweaks, but that's how I play.

I'm not familiar with that one!

Yeah, the quality of the sound seems phenomenal, but I tend to prefer tweaking as well.

Well, the reverbs on the Max are essentially the same ones on the Eventide Space. I have a Max, and to be 100 percent honest, 90 percent of what I use it for are the reverbs. Probably because it's sitting on a big board with other pedals that can do similar things (mods, synths, etc). I would also say that the synths/harmonizers etc on the Max are all monophonic, and I think, at times, they track pretty crappily. The Meris Enzo tracks flawlessly (I can even play the 2 octave up setting really fast and it doesn't choke). So if you're interested in the Eventide verbs, save yourself some money and just get the Space. Honestly, if Eventide made a Blackhole pedal, I'd probably get rid of my Max and get that.

Plus, you're definitely not going to get a Max for under 300, at least I don't think you will. You could likely find a Space used for about 300.

Smaller and cheaper is the Iron Ether Nimbus and Nimbus SE. Well liked, though probably not as versatile as other options mentioned.

The KMA Cirrus might be worth a look. I meant to grab one, but decided I had too much gear :)

i'm partial to the boss rv-500.

stereo, programmable, can have two different reverbs at once (which i think you can pan to different outputs). i believe you can have a delay/reverb combo (not one of the patches i've gotten into).

from memory: plate, room, hall, reverse, modulated, shimmer, etc. as i recall the reverbs can be long.

can be used with expression pedal to do things like morph between a reverse and regular reverb, or change time, etc. can use the tap tempo switch as a momentary switch.

some menu-diving, but also has knobs for the most-used functions (time, effect volume).

they update the firmware now and then.

i think i got mine used between $200 and $300 (i'd have to look it up).

bonus points for having modulation and delay pedals with the same layout and architecture.

really, i'm hoping they pull a distortion version of this out at namm (the od-200 is not what i need).

One thing I did love about the Minim is that I could feedback the delay while feeding it into the reverb (or vice versa), kinda like the havoc function on the Meteore
