Not having a Volca, not sure what it is, but it might be clock.Thanks. The Volca synths use a sync signal that, as far as I can tell, is just a square wave pulse. My Moog Mother 32 can accept this same sync signal if you configure it appropriately. The Moogs also accept a MIDI signal via 5-pin DIN jack.
I have a Digitech Sdrum pedal that has an 1/8" jack that outputs some kind of MIDI timing signal, which from reading that link sounds like it is MIDI clock. Using an adaptor I can use the pedal to sync up with my Moogs, which is cool because the Mother 32's tempo knob then becomes a clock divider, a really cool feature.
The trick is to figure out how to sync other, non-MIDI gear to this.
Nothing is ever easy with this stuff, but I guess solving these problems is part of the fun?
Someday, someone will invent something that ties it all together.
