Lots of new music for me to explore. Thanks everyone for the continuing inspirations.


In my humble corner, I've finally got my Klein Bottle kit back in hand. However, am going to wait until a new soldering station arrives — my current heated pencil is more appropriate for bludgeoning amps than doing the SMD chips op der het kleine Klein platine.

Do you buy modules for it?

Apparently not (I just bought it), but it has a very large selection of modules built in. Some of them are quite cryptic but you can find pretty much anything.

I have not been up to date with Squarepusher's material since his collab with Z machines, but got this new video recommended today, and got pretty excited to see what he's been up to

Non ambient track almost done. Cleaning up the mix revealed some timing issues. Stepping back into this non-ambient stuff is refreshingly frustrating. Oh yeah! Timing and synchronized instruments! I remember those.

An Ableton utility effect helped me out here. I had a bounced stereo synth that was really wide, and it wasn’t cutting it as a “lead” sound. Ableton has a stereo to mono device that lets you control how narrow you want to focus the stereo track. Boom. Mud gone. Definition I was looking for.

Not that I have a clue as to how to use modular, but I got miRack the other day, and it seems like it has over 200 modules included.

Ive got one on my board. I am currently using it for bit crushing and a bit of synth maddness w filter sweeps. I am sending MIDI through a Meris MIDI and plan to dig in way deeper and use the sequencer, stutter feature and even program some distortion pres (thing gets gnarly if you want it to).

I use it for bass and have just started experimenting running drone synths through my board.

My only gripe about the ottobit jr is lack of volume control/mix. The ottobit is hot and it sounds best when I lower the volume w a mixer in my ES-8. Tones are sublime though...I run it into a Hedra for some pitch fun too (Hedra octave down is KILLER)

Have you used Elliot Garbus' Meris editors on the computer? Game changer. I have a Polymoon, Merc 7 and and Enzo, and I use em all the time. Has a patch generator mode that really lets you come up with lots of great stuff.

it says it comes with over 500 with more added regularly. I don’t see any indication of in-app purchases so I assume all the modules are included.

Half tempted to grab that just to try it out and make food for the sampler. A couple years before I went down the eurorack rabbit hole I tried VCV rack and absolutely hated it, but I also had no idea how the modular thing even worked at the time. Total cpu hog back then too...not sure about now. Must be my broken brain, but when I revisited VCV recently it was nothing but frustration compared to a physical rack. Just seems way harder to do in the virtual domain, whereas with my physical rack I can get ideas going very quickly these days. My physical rack was a tad more than ten bucks though :/
