Any of you good people know of a decent program that I could make visualizations that respond to the music, and then I can actually save the video? Having a hard time finding something not too techy. I want to put more stuff up on youtube, but don't have endless hours to devote to film editing, right now.
Best thing IMO is having a buddy that likes doing video montages. Maybe you could provide beats for his stuff in a friendly exchange of talents??
Also I have no clue about such a program, sorry I am of zero help.
The old iTunes used to have a window you could open when playing music, like an old school bouncing lines and shapes screensaver that seemed to react to the music. I wonder if it's still there and if it would be difficult to capture it.
Staella Pro for iOS looks promising but I have not actually used it.
Considering I've been using Winamp since 1999, I looked into it, and found a plugin that will let me capture the visualizations, so I'll take a stab at that and see what happens, and hopefully be sharing some results with you, soon.
Actually, we're going to get in touch with the team doing the visuals at the Synthfest, and see if they'd be interested in doing more shows with us.

Windows Media Player has visualizations, but I can't figure out how to capture them as video.
Plus the newer versions don't have as many visualization settings as the old ones for some reason. Windows XP came with a great set, but that was what almost 20 years ago now? Am I really that old? Why has every version of Windows since then sucked? Get off my lawn! What was I talking about?

Critter & Guitari makes some nice stuff. But I look at that video synth and while it would make a cool light show in realtime, you still have to find a way to record the video.
ETA: I also don't see a price on that page or see it on their "shop" page. Is it not available yet?
I have two older C&G video synths; a color one and a black and white one. They are very simple, two knobs, audio input, and only output composite video, which I like because I can use it with my old tube TV set as well as a projector. I used them on one or two shows, although the added setup for a short set is a hassle.

DAW learning update:
Tried to use Reaper to pseudo « master » tracks and edit some of my sample montages for the band.
Made me want to punch walls, so I did it all in Ableton. I think my patience to learn a DAW is very limited......old grumpy here I am.

Inspire it did not. Made me feel like I was fumbling with Microsoft office or some crap like that.
I'm sure it is an awesome tool, but I think I wont invest anymore time learning a DAW in the near future.
