I've loved everything I've ever heard from Wayne Peet. First came across his name in one of those old Titus Levy columns in Keyboard Magazine back in the late 80s, and more recently I've heard some of his other stuff that you've posted on Facebook. He seems like a fun guy to play with!

And this example is badass, just as expected.

One of the selling points of synths is the filter characteristic. There are several stand-alone filter modules. This probably isn't a necessary device, but still usable.

yeah, it's from a time long ago.

this is from memory (we're talking 35 or so years here):

all the effects are live (this recording is direct to cassette, i think wayne used radio shack pcm mics!)

reverb is the roland srv-2000 rack. loved that thing. too damned heavy (the boss rv-500 cops a lot of it and even has some of the reverse stuff modeled). if there's any weird backwards gated stuff, that's me using the srv.

chorus could be a boss ce-2 (the light blue one); it's it more wiggly, it's the boss vb-2

the other option is that i carried around two roland sde-3000 racks, which i used for delay, chorus/flange/vibrato and looping (3 second!)

i may also have used a boss dsd (?) sampling delay pedal, which could do short burst loops as well

thanks for checking it out.

wayne is a great musician and one of the best *people* i know. love him.

i was just messaging titus today! he lives in china, where he teaches economics. titus also helped run the california outside music association. they did a compilation alb that we're on. i think wayne is gonna re-release our "single" from it a some point.

That would be very useful for my synth because it has no filter. The west coast style synths don't use filters like that. I was just trying to do something like that (and failing) the other day with what I already have.

too late for throwback thursday, but my pal wayne just released the last of the rhythm plague albums (recorded on cassette!).

back when a 707 was new! he says it’s from 87, but i think it’s earlier.

anyway, nels cline, guitars; wayne peet, keys and 808/606; me, basses, keys and 707/727

yeah. interesting that they used a synth for the demo vid. pedals would seem more to be more oriented to guitar/bass. it might be interesting for those folks if you can do some expression pedal filter sweeps (looks like an exp jack on the side).

i guess people who have small mono synths might benefit from a pedal in live situations.

The 0 Cost didn’t really have a filter in it. Various things you can do to mimic a filter, but no actual filter.

I was playing around with the 0 Coast and some delays last night. I was sending MIDI CC from clip envelopes I made in Ableton to the pedals. It got some good-weird results. If I had another 30 minutes I would’ve tried recording a few things. I think ugly would’ve appreciated some if it.

That’s because the 0 coast is kind of a west coast style synth. I guess from the name it is supposed to be a hybrid east-west style.

I tried iMPC a couple years ago and hated it. Tried BeatMaker and it was similar but better. I have a 3 year old (?) Air2 and I’ve never got on with it. Just too twitchy to use. Maybe it’s just mine that sucks, but I never liked making music with it.

A friend loaned me one for a few months and I loved it, though I barely knew what I was doing!

The more I use mine the more I recognize the Make Noise sound.

The doors really open up with the MIDI B CV and Gate out settings. It’s not intuitive, but once you know how it works you get a bunch of useful options.

Ok.....i have a feeling this is gonna be a bad day at the SP office.

Trimmed a drum break once , now resample to add an effect.....AND CANT FOR THE LIFE OF ME MAKE IT CLEAN LOOP!!!

I did it twice in a row.....now.....^$^#^#^#^$&@&#&.

I need to go take a walk. And look at old mpcs.....

Edit....this literally gave me a headache .
I can't work like this. Thinking of sampling with my dr40 4 track then dumping and chopping in Ableton........^#^#&^#;&#$,

Or chopping and edit all the sp samples on computer......the thing i wanted to avoid in the 1st place......
