Here we go. Still practicing with my most recent JMT synth.
Was trying to go for a more "ambient" vibe and less "harsh" texture . Getting there, I still need a lot of practice. These synths require an intense listening process due to the unpredictable nature of them.

No computer, no mastering. Recorded on my portable 4 track.

Nope not really! I've gone back and forth on whether the price differences between the Eventide H9 and Zoom MS-70CDR are justified.

I've also been interested in a reverb pedal like the Afterneath, or a modulation pedal of some kind. I'm open to ideas!

The Eventide is a powerhouse. The Zoia is interesting, if you're interested in such things, including building your own effects.

Simpler is the Skitter Reverb & Trem
The Skitter – reverbolo
Woozy is interesting
The Woozy – lo-fi modulation and warped tape echo
Follow their IG for batch release info.

I wasn't that impressed with my experience testing the Afterneath, but it is quite popular and it could’ve been my fault.

I’ve been happy with my Empress Reverb. It’s a good unit, with several engines.

You could try to do something like this, which I just saw in IG.

I too have been very slowly working my way through chordal harmony (and all the good stuff). I am definitely seeing improvement in my playing from running his exercises. I like to try them, analyze them, then explore them, then force them into my playing, and then just run them as exercises. It has definitely broadened my vocabulary and expanded my go to patterns and note movements. It’s always nice to throw something fresh into the technique.

I am a big fan of Janek but the dude is so out of touch w effects and he portrays himself as the effects guy. He JUST discovered Meris existed pretty recently...it’s like where have you been dude.

I just borrowed a friend's Empress Reverb. Best sounding reverb that I've heard on bass thus far.

Stereo in/out and expression pedal jacks. At least they are top mounted. Plus you've got three stomps, which I wouldn't want on a small box.
Don't forget that built in looper function too. It is a lot packed in there. If you use the looper, the space savings over two pedals is worth considering.

Agreed.
But it's still huge.
Maybe an "at the studio " kinda pedal for me.

The Trem Reverb engine is one I really like, particularly with an expression pedal. The sparkle/shimmer verb engine isn’t my favorite of that genre, but it works pretty well. The ghost Reverb is nice, and the Zoia version of it takes up a tremendous amount of the Zoia processing, just for reference.
They keep rolling out firmware updates with new engines.

I’ve got the H9 and it sounds amazing but I can’t stand the menu diving. I rarely use it.

Been hand wringing over an interesting polysynth for a couple weeks and there’s a ton of great ones out there at the moment, so it’s been fun poking around.

Waldorf Iridium- way high on my list, but Sweetwater quoted me a price of $2,499 and they quoted a friend the price of $2,850 in the same week. No real idea when they be available either. Thomann.us has em listed at $2,079, but you gotta have it shipped from Germany. Still not bad, but they estimate delivery at 9-12 weeks.
Hydrasynth- obviously a rad synth and I had all but made up my mind, then chickened out.

Wound up ordering the Kodamo Essence FM today from Perfect Circuit. Bit of a dice roll, but potentially super nice. Worse case, I’ll exchange it for a Hydrasynth or something. Just kinda wanted to go off the beaten path for some reason
