Ambient/Post-Rock/Textural bass playing thread

Seems like an awesome tool, but mostly looking for something else.
Good basic delay, verb and modulation (chorus, trem....etc....).

Something like the zoom modulation FX pedal.... (but more like a studio tool than and less off a “pain in the @$$ toy.......tried the bass one and hated it with a passion....it would have went flying into a wall but I had to return it for a full refund....ehh) On the spot knob tweaking would be a huge huge plus.

Also, 1st world problem , I hate tearing off pedals from my gig\jam board to use in my studio set up.
And I dont want to buy doubles.......unless they are magic unicorns that make coffee and wash the dishes.
Ah....so many difficult problems. ;)

But really, I can work with my old mixer on-board FX with two Rotary knobs no problem. Like I said, 1st world “pseudo-problems”. My DAW has some awesome FX, but I’ve gravitated away from it for a while.
Maybe I should try using the DAW as in insert FX box with my mixer...HMMMMM.....now that could be cool!!!!

Boss MD-200 would be your best bet, bang for the buck and sound. I have its big brother, the MD-500, love it.

Why didn't I think of this.....its so obvious it was staring me in the face.
The SP is a freakn multi FX box!!!!!!
Now I'm experimenting with my SP as an FX unit in aux send.....

All I need now is a good passive aby that can go in either direction....???.....hmmm....saturnworks pedals maybe?

MD200 Is definitely on the radar.

Ok....i deserve a double kick in the gonads!!!!
I can sample everything going into the SP and use it as an FX box......in real time!!!!!

Now I dig the SP even more.....:roflmao:.....

Oh man, I hear ya... My "large" pedalboard weighs something north of 30lbs, and that's before I factor in the heavy-duty flight case it lives in. Sometimes I don't even feel like dragging it out of the corner of the rehearsal studio just to use it...and one of the last times I did, I pulled a muscle in my back just getting it out of the case! Everything on it is securely locked down so it can survive travel, but that means it's an all-or-nothing proposition when it comes time to use it. And there are times when nothing is preferable -- or at least a whole lot simpler/less painful -- than all.

Of course, that was part of the impetus behind my cobbling together the "small" pedalboard last year. Which lives in a 20lb flight case, so, fail. Maybe I just need to stop travelling?

Same, my board is all set up and secured for live use, getting lugged around and being stomped. Everything is tight and compact so removing anything is more a major pain in the @$$.

I never go hurt carrying my pedal board (not big enough :)...) but I did hurt my back pretty bad about 10 years ago trying to get my old tank Eden 410 out of my car after a gig. (100lbs over)

I tried to pull it out and slipped on ice, my back went CRUNCH!!!!!!!
Next morning my lady had to roll me out of bed cuz i couldn’t even turn myself over. Walking and going to the bathroom was quite the ordeal.....
Needed about a month of physical therapy. How dumb is that!!!!

(Sorry @monsterthompson , that nothing compared to you. I admire your resilience. You are one tuff ^&&*(.

My big board has gotten so big that I dont bother w the case. I just carry it to the car put it in the trunk or backseat and then walk it into whereever the jam is. Not a big deal since the car always gets me pretty close. Bigger problem is when I dont have the floor real estate for my board where I am jamming.

md-200 would be a good bet. it’s stereo for one. the exp pedal implementation might be pretty good if it follows the md-500.

the dd-200/500 are also very cool.

the pedal board size thing:

i go modular so i can use certain configurations for certain projects. so i have mini boards/clusters:

fuzz/od: 3 x the elements (dif eq settings) with exp pedals
[this is pretty much a constant]

mod/delay/verb: boss md/dd/rv-500 with exp pedals [i’ll take smaller dd/rv pedals for other projects]

crazy noise making: ct5/charlies foxtrot/scrutator/sneak attack [these can get shifted out for similar items]

if i’m doing a stereo setup, i often use an ibanez vl-10 pedal to do live panning.

looper: boomerang 3


more normal gigs might get an element or two plus iron ether subterranea/xerograph/frantibit/polytope/fmeron [i consider this sort of a grrove setup]

every setup gets a volume pedal.

and i like to fit things in smaller pelican type boxes so they can easily transport.
