Ambient/Post-Rock/Textural bass playing thread

I don't now that I need a full education, as I'm sure plenty of info exists online if I want it...
But for example:
Rat Scabies from The Damned. His life didn't exactly seem to provide for early development of technique and chops behind the kit.
The Cramps are fresh on my mind, since listening to the podcast on them.
Didn't Dee Dee and/or Johnny Ramone buy a guitar at a store and carry it out in shopping bag because he didn't want to or couldn't afford a case? I mean, what was the rest of life like for someone like that, and how would you find a way to practice, let alone know what to practice?
Glenn Danzig is clearly a capable multi-instrumentalist, but it isn't a thing that comes up about him.

I’d always heard The Cramps had their logo and press photos before they bought instruments. They hadn’t even agreed who was gonna play what. But they set out to be very primitive in the first place

they were primitive. i saw them. not my thing.

they were doing what a fair amount of people were doing (at least in l.a., and imo), which was sort of roots oriented. having seen a lot of og people and played that stuff, it always really bothered me.

There was a lot roots stuff in LA back then. Saw the Blasters many times on the bill with punk bands. I dunno, Cramps to this day are one of my favorite bands, but I get that it’s not for everyone :)

phil alvin sang well. i saw rhe blasters, who i think were okay, but they had hollywood fats sitting in. he was the real deal.

but them you had top jimmy, who imo was terrible.

i don't know how good i should feel about everyone liking my post about me being an opinionated a-hole.

;)

really, i'm here to say that anyone who has gotten the hydrasynth or is thinking about it should know that they just released their fourth firmware update with new features.

What a coincidence.
I was watching demos of the desktop model last night.......

they've added a tone of new stuff. microtonal scales for one. new filters for another. expanded lfo features for yet another.

they are a company that is really working on adding improvements to their instrument
