I was just about to say that I'd recommend doing what I did... I bought an inexpensive used 6 (in my case, a Hohner Bass VI, which, surprisingly was a pretty decent mid-grade bass), before dropping the dough. When I got my Bordwell(the one in my pic), i knew exactly what I wanted, in terms of tone, neck, everything. The Hohner had 16.5 or 17 mm spacing, which is on the narrow end for 6's. I didn't need wide space for slap... I wanted chords, so the string spacing was ideal. I'm glad I made the investment, it was well-worth it, it's mostly what I play on the board, now, with the occasional fretless 5, too.
The Hydrasynth is my first real synth. I've played with apps and I have a future impact, but the editor is super over my head (but getting the synth was part of the plan to better understand all this synth stuff in general). I took MIDI classes in college ages ago and get pretty deep with pedals and MIDI and have played with Protools rigs and Logic setups (these days I'm garageband on an ipad - lol), but I've been lost on a real synth...this thing has a few really smart design concepts that just carry throughout making it really easy for a novice like me to not waste time trying to understand the design layout. It doesn't feel like I am really menu diving to get at stuff. There are a few button clicks here and there, and on rare occasions there are a few sublevels of data to click into, but those areas tend to not be necessities, but as I discover them, I am floored by what they offer.
I really went for it based on @steubig 's massive praising of it and then seeing all reviews praise it just the same. Super bonus that after I got it, I discover all these user communities and sound bank options and the deep dive reviews of it everywhere really help to get your head around it, plus the company is releasing upgrades already. Definitely a purchase I'm really glad I made...and I got a hell of a deal on it too...but it's worth it's pricetag and then some when you think of what else you can get with that some money for a musical instrument. I'm also really pleased with it because I was really on the fence of starting to explore modular, but I know it's a dangerous rabbit hole for someone like me...and although I'm catching myself browsing used Moog desktop units, this thing is packed w features and functionality to dig into.
If I can control my GAS for pedals and desktop synths, I've been aching for a new guitar. I have a 1960 classic LP that I adore, but it's so heavy...I really want a Tele Thinline.

I did the 4 string to 5 string (forever) and then eventually to 6 string...and now I'm back to 4 string only. I do have a 5'er on order that I've been waiting on for a WHILE w Carl, but it's an E > C 32"

Miezo is that model. Check the X3 which is the same basic design, intended for travel with an easily removable and interchangeable neck, which comes in 5 different scale lengths. Follow them on IG, there are some gorgeous posts including a recent translucent blue. They are super responsive to comments and DM’s.
I believe they are 19mm, but I asked about 17mm spacing and they said it was possible.

imo, that’s going to have very limited range. unless you have real issues with a longer neck, it might be better to do what @lordradish or @Spectrum were talking about.
They’ve got a 25” scale, which I think might be more realistic. I’ve got concerns about that fret spacing

You gotta stop. I already priced out my options and it is really reasonable. definitely headphone amp out...aux in...but on the fence on the 3-band. you think they sound good passive? probably the move is 3band
There’s a few demos online. Not terribly extensive, but they are there. Message them on IG and you might get some good info. There are a few TB users but not many. Just be ready for some potential import complications. I’m not sure what issues might exist with duties and shipping, but I’m sure they’ll give you a straight story.
I recently got a gretsch baritone guitar that is almost the same as a bass vi. Differences are a 29.75” scale length and B to B tuning. Tons of fun but was hard for me to chord so I picked up a regular Gretsch from MF SDOTD on impulse.

I can really understand all the Hydra love, here, because it is so intuitive for sound design. I was obsessed with it and about to pull the trigger... then Waldorf had to do that Iridium thing... which is still on backorder.
Iridium is wayyyyyyyyy out of my price range.
Hydra is also....but I can maybe eat grass or sand for a couple weeks.
Is that pad thing mostly for noise making or can it do melodic stuff, too?
It’s just a touch midi controller. It can do anything you map it out to be.
The top is just an overlay with patterns. The thing under is just a blank plate.
Get the desktop version.
Yeah, that Iridium ain't cheap, but there doesn't seem to be anything else out there that's capable of those sounds, other than its $4k big brother, the Quantum. Financing is 55 a month, which I think is worth it, for me.
