Thanks all. Especially @mrgittleman for the detailed rundown.

Agree that the Blooper is expensive but I’m not worried about more than 30s of looping time. I am buying it for mangling and decay. I also have a Ditto X2 for more pedestrian repetition duties.

All the hardware loopers with serious manipulation features are on the expensive side and most have wonkier interfaces. I got good enough at the Octatrack at one point to perform with it but it would take me a long time to figure it out again... the Blooper appears to be immediate.

I am breaking up my home board into “hands” and “feet” sections and the Blooper will be at hand level for sure.

since you have the ditto and will soon have another looper (already do?), here’s trick i’ve done:

have the main looper before the ditto, start playing the main looper and them start using the ditto to sample the other looping—and mash away at the half speed and reverse
controls while you’re at it. you can get some interesting collages out of it.

i’ve done it with a boomerang 3 going into a boss dd-6 as a mangler and then into the ditto. (might work with a blooper as well.) stereo can also be pretty cool.

For JES just blooper mood Ottobit (for distortion) It is an amazing pedal every time I work with it something beautiful returns.

I got a lot of new stuff recorded.....will share when the times come.
Including a live full band improv I recorded Sunday. (I have ALOT !!!!!! Of work to do on the mixing on that thing.)
Drums, JMT synths, 2 voix (well....yelling brutal from hell type stuff. :)..)

Thanks, did another last night I may put up. Singular Sound released that looper way earlier than they should have, so it's taking quite a while to get the features operational and bug free. The big hold out for me was the freeform/seamless overdub thing. Now that that's fixed, I can't stop using the damn thing. 6 separate loop tracks, and 3 parts of 6 separate loop tracks and a damn touchscreen.

Thanks. I was thinking the Ditto could be used at the end of the chain to a) set the Blooper "free" -- once I get a texture I like, sample it, build another texture and transition, etc. and b) asynced loops so that I can get more evolving textures going. I am purposely not going to sync them. I used half speed and reverse on the Ditto all the time (and did on the Infinity as well).

I'm staying mono for now but nobody knows what the future holds....

I'm not set up to record my home noodles but will run an XLR out of the back of my Tone Block 202 (or hang a mic over the cab) once it's all set up. Question: where do people like to post sketches these days? I have just been posting links to files in my Dropbox (like on the reverb thread) but is there a practical advantage to Soundcloud? I'm happy to share here but not looking to disseminate....

Tried two loopers with my band.....total car crash. Too much stuff to manage at the same time. For solo work it could be awesome.
I’m just not too inspired by TC QC in the late. One of my buddies had 2 dittos in 2 weeks, one dead on arrival, 2nd dead after 5 days......return to store for full refund.
Mine only glitched out once.....for absolutely no reason....probably magic pixie unicorns messing with me.

Lemme add, I really looked at EVERYTHING, and everything had some vital feature missing. This one had everything. Pricey, but so worth it. Check out the feature list on that link. Plus, they're really active in their forums and receptive. I think when they started designing this thing, they were thinking of practical stuff as well as integration with their Beat Buddy, and weren't thinking much about soundscapers. Me and about 4 or 5 other people on the forums gave them a lot of suggestions and ideas that are specific to scapes, and they've been actually listening and implementing them.
