Ambient/Post-Rock/Textural bass playing thread

My gear is dirty, but every now and then I clean things. Been considering a paint brush for a while...now I've added it to my list so I guess that's the route. I used to oil up my basses w Howard's Feed-n-Wax every now and again, but probably been a few years since the last time. I NEVER change my strings. I hate the zing of new strings.

@ugly_bassplayer so what's the new toy?

Another JMT synth.
I find them simply incredible instruments.

No one is gonna hear the difference anyways,

Not in the 15 to 20 people who are gonna listen to my records anyways.
“Noise” exploration of sound textures. That’s where the big $$ is.
Money well invested I tell ya, noise synth is gonna pay itself in about 50 -60 years.....

At last, the home set up is set up and works. I hope to start making recordings this week if the 12 hour workdays subside a bit. It is actually great to get stuff off the floor (not pictured is a foot switch for the Blooper and expression pedals for the Elements and H9). The H9 actually has lots of great hand control options, including switching that allows me to put it before or after the blooper, and it is way faster to scroll presets that way.

Whenever the pandemic is over, I'll need to return this table to the practice space, but for now it's super useful at home.

Now, time for some football.

New blooper firmware just dropped. New.modifiers and everything

H9 is still the only pedal remaining on my board from when I started this whole journey 4 years ago. That one will be there till it dies.

Anyone here have any suggestions for an artwork program for dummies??

I'm like....starting from zero. Beyond newb.

I can't afford paying my regular dudes anymore. So I have to basically try and do it myself.

Thank you for any suggestions.
No Photoshop please.....I have zero time to invest in such a program.

If you're on a Mac, I use GraphicConverter - it's not free anymore, but only around $40? I have fun with it.

Yup, I've been using it for over a decade now. I seem to remember it came with my Mac? Maybe the one I got in 2002? That would make it close to two decades!

Got a new MacBook Air this year, and trying to just use the editing capabilities of Preview I got extremely frustrated - I should have known better - so finally got the latest version of GraphicConverter (11). I'm not doing anything special, but even for basic stuff like resizing or saving annoying file formats like HEIC as JPEGs I find it very useful and reliable.
