The sound of my bank account cringing
Those are cool sounds but I'm not sure I can't make similar noises with the gear I already have. My Microbrute is fairly inexpensive but it's great for sci fi noisemaking when paired with a delay pedal. Better than my Moog Mother 32s even. (I know it's blasphemy to say this, but the Microbrute's filter sounds almost as good as the Moog's, and it's a bit more versatile the way it's set up too.)
When I bought the Microbrute it was my first ever synth and I spent a lot of time just trying to create all kinds of sounds with it. My earlier tracks were all multi-tracks of different Microbrute parts layered over each other with various effect pedals because that one instrument was all I had.

two doubled-up hydrasynth patches (one is the microtonal morass; one is the big chord) and four patches in an ipad app called sector. (first time i've used an ipad app for recording in a long time.)
pretty ambient, i think.

cool. seems very useful. smaller than the boss eq-200.
looking at it reminded of one of the things that i don’t love about the sa stuff: their exp pedals (or at least the jacks) don’t seem to be universal.

The Aftershock pedal soured me on their gear. I didn't like the UI or the sound. However, EQ should be decent if it is transparent. Stereo EQ in a box that size is uncommon.
it is. i've thought about the boss, cause it does the stereo thing, is a little bigger and might be more programmable (or maybe just easier?). i don't thing the boss morphs, which it sounds like the sa does. i haven't looked into the exp pedal functionality on the boss, so i don't knwo what it does.
right now, no money for it, so it doesn't matter.

Sounds fantastic. Are you using on-board effects and external ones?

other than a slight blanket reverb in abelton to tie the room together, all the effects in the synth pads/chords are part of the patches.
the sector patches are basically samples of chords or notes that may or may not have effects in them to begin with, but sector doesn't add effects.
btw: sector allows you to take a sample and slice it into sectors (up to 30 or 40 something). from there you can design the "patch" to jump to different parts of the sample with varying probability and also add some modifications to create stuttering, glitches, warbling, etc., sounds, also with varying probability. you can also change the pitch or tempo/speed of the sample. i think it's great for treatments and little blocks of sound.
the guy who made this has also done audioshare and aum. very smart guy.
