Care to share an example/sample of this particular set up??2 loopers with a flip flop in the middle is the answer to all of life's looping problems...that is unless you wanna do weird stuff.
For the sake of argument -- and I say this as a huge Bill Bruford fan, someone who's admired his work for pretty much the entirety of his career, and who especially loves his willingness to value the music over his own ego -- I will say that on occasion he has done some things where the concept and the execution don't quite elide, and so I only find them "interesting" as failed experiments.
The most obvious examples are the places where he uses metric modulation and the drums are the only instrument doing so (e.g., "Cerulean Sea" from the Bruford Levin Upper Extremities album), or any time he tries to play swing (e.g., "Sparkle" from Jamaaladeen Tacuma's Renaissance Man album).
But the fact that he's willing to go out there and release a failed experiment [sic] with his musicality and integrity intact endears him to me all the more, so don't take this as a criticism per se.
