I remember Andre LaFosse from the old Looper's Delight webpage, he wrote a bunch of tutorials on using the EDP there. He might have been the guy who designed the LOOP IV firmware update for those units?

yep. that’s where i met him as well. we run into each other now and then.
he’s been doing more tutorials of late. super-intense investigation of the device.
not sure he’s a coder?
i would think mathias groB would be the guy, since he and kim flint were the originators. andre may have made suggestions?
another possibility is the looperlative. i know very little about its current incarnation.
my friend has the ehx 720. he says:
“720 minutes stereo recording time, 10 independent loops, no functional pitch changing”
it has reverse, which works well.
he says that it's supposed to have octave, but he can't get it to function (he's very adept at this stuff, so i take his word for it.)
he also says his older 2280 does the octave thing well. he hasn't tried the newer one. says you can find the older one for reasonable prices in reverb.

I've been following the Looperlative LP-1 and LP-2 ever since Mike Metlay turned me on to that company ~20 years ago. From a pure feature set, the LP-1 should have killed every other looper on the market (although the price was commensurate...) But I'll be honest, the more I pay attention to the company the less confident I feel about the product! As far as I can tell the biggest advancement the new "Gen B" version of the LP-1 has over the original is that it doesn't crash
I mean, hats off to the developer for posting all of his failures right up there along with all of his successes...that kind of honesty in the industry is pretty rare. But perhaps not the smartest approach from a marketing perspective?And to be completely up front, I've still never seen one in the flesh much less used one, so this is all just internet blather, not empirical musing.

yeah, agreed. i talked to bob at namm a number of years ago and i know a few guys who have been involved with the development with him. they made some design choices that were not useful for my needs, but they seem to really like it. seems like it's always *almost there*!

scot is an amazing musician. was a great trombone player and then gave it up for lapsteel. we've played with each for years. check out the disc called "yar" on his page. it's a collaboration with his sister, who's one of *the* contemporary classical pianists in l.a. (crazy talented family).

Apparently EHX-1440 is a larger version of the 720. With an octave function.

totally. he says it's a like a polyphonic trombone (but without the physical drawbacks).
You literally have to be a masochist to play trombone.
Insanely difficult instrument.
That dudes ear must be razor sharp.
I actually did, for a bit. I could play "Well You Needn't", "Blue Monk" and "Dialogue Parts 1 and 2" (by Chicago). Had fun with it and then just figured I'd rather be getting better at bass. It does take a great ear, though.
