ok, i now my stuff has along way to go, but i'm feeling better about finding space in my mixes. so @steubig here is some bass content for you from last night. loving my new sr505! a couple bass tracks, and a couple guit tracks. lyrics and arrangements are next...and of course an actual guitar player would be nice...

Maybe not ambient\textural whatever but anything goes here ( euh.....i think ) .Mr Bungle dropped an « new » album. 1st one in 20 years.
They re-recorded the 1986 demo. With Dave Lombardo from Slayer on drums. Ive always liked Mr Bungle, I guess its a love\hate kind of band. Anyways this one really sounds 80s thrash metal, very Slayer ishhh.
Patton voix are in aggressive mode. I really liked it. Trevor Dunn is an excellent bass player, extremely versatile. I remember transcribing some of his lines from Bungles s\t album, very cool, inventive tasty lines. We actually covered « the girls of porn » with one of my old Funk cover bands.

trevor plays in my pal’s band, the nels cline singers; nels and the drummer from that band are on the stinkbug track.
i think trevor wrote my fave bungle tune (forget titles, tenson in the jaw or something).
Dang, if you ever see Trevor, tell him some kid from Quebec in the late 90s spent quite some time learning his lines (that I obviously all forgot now).
Was definitely an influence, thanks fro the music Mr Dunn.
RE; awesome, my favorite was Stinkbug the pump, sweet mood and groove. Nice textures.
I can relate to that: I love their debut album. Like personal top-10 desert island disc. Listened to the crap outta that when it was released. Saw them performing all that material live in 1991 at Maxwell's in Hoboken NJ, a tiny hole-in-the-wall club that held maybe 100 people. Fantastic album.
Picked up Disco Volante and California sometime in the last ~20 years, and hated them both. :::shrugs:::
Each of the 1st 3 albums are so different. Its almost impossible to compare them.
I really liked California, Disco Volante was,,,,ok ( i didnt even buy that record). Sort of "we're trying a Zorn rock thing". Cant blame em for trying.
1st one is dope, nuff said.
But dont take my word for it, jeez I release "noise" art???..... stuff or whatever you want to call it. (I think I might have a piece to share later today.....ZERO!!! computer except for raising the levels....)

Speaking of love/hate bands (not the band Love/Hate, which I happen to love, but that's another discussion...)
I've been digging into Samhain. I think it's starting to click for me. I couldn't get why folks liked this band, aside from Danzig's image. Now, I've gotten the ear worm for Let the Day Begin, and the rest of the tracks are falling into place. I do find it hilarious that there's a pretty obvious Radar Love riff on one of their tracks.

Maybe you should hire a pedal life coach? Give him power of attorney over your gear budget and make him force you to justify every expense in writing. That ought to make you miserable enough!

Believe it or not I’ve actually been playing bass, changing strings, and considering a few tools to help me do my own setups.
Every time I change strings, a little piece of me dies.
I hate new strings.
