Ambient/Post-Rock/Textural bass playing thread

Jim's a huge influence of mine, and for many people. I know that @steubig has played with him.
I think Jim Black basically influenced the entire new music/experimental jazz scene the world over. All of a sudden everybody was doing what he did, but IMO none did it better. Super talent. I spoke to him once. Nice guy. I wonder how he, and the rest of the NYC experimental scene is doing. The system certainly killed off all their venues. Gotta wonder how these people eat and pay rent.

Jim moved to Berlin a while back. They're in lockdown again. NY has been having outdoor performances... the streets and parks have seen some amazing music as of late. Of course with winter coming it's going to be rough. People are basically surviving off of grants and/or unemployment. Once unemployment runs out we're in some trouble if things don't improve.

Yeah, I see Germans out in the streets by the hundreds of thousands protesting those new lockdowns. Maybe Jim is joining them. He should be. His future as a live performer depends on it. I've seen some of the street performances here in NYC the past few months. I have no doubt some great stuff is being done, but overall it's a depressing affair. Masked and muzzled and playing for peanuts. Even the members of the New York Philharmonic are giving busking performances. They put a nice spin on it calling it "philharmonic in the park" or something like that, but having once been intimately involved with the New York Philharmonic, I can say for certain these people are not doing very well.

afaik, jim got a teaching gig in berlin.

the people i know in berlin, some teaching, some gigging or doing theater, are observing the lockdown and are not happy with the protestors as they feel it’s making the viral spread worse.
That's world wide imo....and science also supports this.
Its FUBAR here all over the country.

With Xmas coming, people are ignoring all guidelines.
Things are gonna get worse before they get better.........

Me this afternoon.
Cpu...latency....harware issues....out of time recordings.....imported Ableton clips glitching
