Ambient/Post-Rock/Textural bass playing thread

So an update on @emjazz’s suggestion to go to Instagram to contact Smallsound/Bigsound. Tonight I got an emailed apology and an offer to fix the pedal for free. Shipping out tomorrow. Thank you! One less paperweight in my drawer.
Brian is an artist through and through, so sometimes difficult to get in touch with, but a really great guy. So glad to hear this worked! I had always had an easy time getting him through IG, but not through email.

Got my Particle back from RP, a week after I sent it out, works like new!

as i recall he did some stuff like that. i only saw them once and it was a long time ago.

in terms of voicings, yeah, i go for what i consider the color notes: 3rds, 7ths, -/+5s. i also play melodically with those (but not the *melody*)

chord extensions can be cool.

pedaled roots with passing 3rds, 4ths, 5ths can be nice. you can also dispense with the root and do pedaled 5th, with passing 6th, 7th, octave. that sort of thing.

i also break up the rhythm a lot.

btw, i think @emjazz has a book he’s been working from on this stuff.
I was searching for something else and saw that I had missed this...

Online you can find the PDF's for Mick Goodrick's (Mr. Goodchord) Almanac of Guitar Voice-Leading. Three volumes. Impossible to find outside of the pdfs. Long out of print. Every possible permutation of voice leading major, harmonic minor and melodic minor. Absolute brilliance. Highly recommended. One page could last you months, or longer.

Thanks for this. I found vol 1 and 2 but not 3 on Scribd. Are they somewhere else?

I am a big fan of The Advancing Guitarist.

I believe it does but I can’t find where that’s explicitly stated. It has input pad options for -6 and -12 dB. I’m running the Aux Send from my Mackie Mix 8 into it.
If it works with the AUX out of your mixer, this by default means that it works with line level inputs/outputs.

:)

Cool tones in the huge thing.

After my audio interface dying, now my main mixer is acting up.
A mackie 12 fx might be cool but it doesnt have an XLR main outs. Needs adapters.
:(

All Yamaha mixers have gone up in price this last year its nuts.

From Curt of Red Panda.

We are aware of the clicking at loop boundaries that occurs in some cases, and it will be fixed in the next firmware update (1.2.1). We will follow up when it is available to download. I do not think there is anything physically wrong with your pedal.

Apologies for the lack of updates - this is a busy time of year with NAMM and new product releases.

If it's any consolation, even though my pedal came back quick, that whole process did take about a month of back and forth, in part due to the holidays. The woman I dealt with told me there's only a few people working there.

I completely understand the fubar and that everyone is overwhelmed.

At least now we all know the reason. Spread the knowledge on to others they say.

With that said.
Let's wait for the update. 1...2....3....go....!!!
