This old tube combo sounds awesome. Can’t wait to pair it with my Miezo this spring. There’s a built in reverb that’s surprisingly nice.
I plugged in the Champion Leccy Skitter with my Ric 4003 and it worked like a charm. I particularly enjoyed the Bridge + Neck setting (Nordy in the neck).
I think I may the only dude on this forum that had a bad sounding Nordy Pup. It was the vintage Pbass one.
I’m starting the believe it might have been defective. Worst Pbass pup I ver had.
But I traded it to someone on TB for GZR. Never looked back.
I found mine to be a little dull also. But the ones I like are the Lull 5 string (Seymour Duncan imitating Fralin), Bill Lawrence, and G&L MFD, so I am not a good barometer.
I have the vintage P in a couple of basses. It's a bit softer and darker than others that they make, but it sounds great. I'm guessing it was either defective, or just super not your thing. I recently switched it out for another P from Nordstrand, and I may just end up with their basic NP4. They all are quite different.
I have Nord Dual Coils in the Bordwell (at least that's what I remember). They do seem a bit timid at times, like I wish they were more aggressive.

I’m getting Nordy Zen Blades in my MUB build. I think the demos sounded great. The Big Rigs were on my radar. @MDBass helped me with the decision, and he helped persuade me to get the Ric PU after letting me demo his 4003 (or might’ve been a 4001). His tone is usually enviable, so it’s easy to trust his judgment.
I have the Zen coming in the Miezo, too, and if I like it, I may think about putting them in the Bordwell, if I can figure out the wiring.
Are you getting it series or parallel wired (individually PU option, not as in a set of PUs).
Can you give some examples of dub/brostep?Yep, 90s drum and bass was the equivalent of the dubstep/brostep thing. It became so bland and watered down
Shame, the good ones where freakin awesome. But the amen break needed to disappear for a bit .
I dunno. It’s the first time I’ve heard it and I thought it was pretty good. Definitely preferred the more ambient stuff at the start but not bad at all. Reminded me of Orbital.
