If you like saturated 808 sounds, on the That Sound website, one of the packs, I think Dark Chill or Future, has a pile of them, and they do indeed sound great both as is and processed further, couched in ambient space, etc. It's stuff any decent sound designer could do, but if you'd rather focus your time on getting the hardware ready for performance, they're rock solid.

I, too, am a fan of well-made 808 bass tracks... and though it's definitely nothing like a real 808, I managed to get a pretty decent Jupiter-esque subby, punch-decay sort of patch worked out on my C4, too. Fun when I'm at a jam session and need extra punch on the fly.

I tend to use a 808 kick sample and then dump into Ableton’s simpler. Then process with EQ, saturators\dirt, filters.....etc.....As I previously mentioned, seems easy but it’s complet mush or dry as crap when done wrong.
Was looking for a MicroFreak patch for those sounds. I hate having to boot up Live to do this.

This is the kind of thing I freakin love when talking about 808 bass lines with the kick.
(I’m also a huge Kendrick Fan, but DAMN is far from being his best record....my 2 cents. )

I really liked all those hazy stereo guitar (?) samples in the background. Probably would have enjoyed the 808 kick bassline if it had just a bit more motion tbh.

They're just more mid forward. Some of them sound amazing on bass!!

It was a dad joke.
Some TS pedals are called TS808, the original ones from the 70s.
Later versions arw TS9.
I think they made a reissue of the 808...but I might be wrong

imagine my chagrin when i pedal i could barely sell for $35 in the mid 80s became hugely expensive. (even worse was the vb-2.)

There are smaller companies that make much better versions of them now...they can be super cool!

Good thing you redeemed yourself with some classic Godflesh!!!!!!!
These guys are still killing it, last album is awesome (A world only lit by Fire).
Nerd fact, they where one of the first to ever use the HM-2 prominently on bass.
