I don't know about the pedal thing but the music they made with it for the promo vid is pretty cool.

Finally watched that whole video. Good stuff, Andre definitely knows the EDP inside & out. My two favorite takeaways:
- 1) He confirmed my suspicion that an alternate footswitch was mandatory for heavy EDP use (he's using a BOSS instead of the stock Gibson/Oberheim unit). When I owned an EDP I had to whip out the soldering iron at least once every ~6 months to repair those fragile buttons!
- 2) I love any musician who incorporates a clock as part of their onstage rig! Even if you're not doing metronomic looping -- or large-scale looping...or metronomic large-scale looping -- just knowing e.g., "This has been going on for 90 seconds" and/or "I have 5 minutes left before I get the gong" is invaluable.
I think the Oberheim EDP is the one piece of gear from my entire sordid career that I have seller's remorse about, so this Glou Glou Loupé is really appealing!
Re: clock.
That's one of the reasons I want to get the boss RC-1. It has an illuminated circle that indicates where the loop is at time wise. (Straight up trade for a ditto ???)
To avoid using a freakin timer like I do sometimes !!!!!

Damn , when I saw E.S.T Esbjorn Svensson trio immediately popped into my head.
Super intuitive on the surface, with lots of only-slightly-less-intuitive additional functionality that operates as Tier 2/Under The Hood features. Firmware updates gave it new features that didn't completely redefine its core functionality (or the users' understanding thereof).
Also worth noting that at the time the EDP was introduced there wasn't nearly as much competition in the looping delay market as there is now. You had the original Boomerang, the Lexicon JamMan, Line6 DL4, the Electrix Repeater (I think?), old/unreliable Electro-Harmonix 16-Second Digital Delays if you got lucky on the 2nd hand market, one-off modified Lexicon PCM-42MEOs if you got in tight with Bob Seldon, and the very first iteration of the Looperlative LP-1. In comparison to all of those, an EDP either
- offered better fidelity
- offered more functionality
- offered more ease-of-use
- offered a warranty
On gigs the green Line 6 DL4 was a mainstay, every guitar player had it on their board.....literally!!!

like i said, currently looking for an mc-707 at a good price. missed one “by that much” this morning.
I had the FM4, one of the worst pedals in the history of pedals.
Why the mc-707 in perticular??
I still love the DL4. I like it's limitations, but that's something that I usually look for. Simpler/more limited. That new one from Glou Glou has my attention as well, but I'm in the same boat as Steuart.....havn't been focusing on looping these days at all. My Ditto X2 died a few months ago and I just haven't felt the need to replace it yet.

You’re about the 10th person I know that has one that blew up. One of my beast bud’s bought one new, off to the jam. It crapped out 5 mins in. Go back to the store, replacement. All good for about a week, then completely shuts off and dies, REFUND TIME!!!!!!
My small ditto glitched once, and it was on a gig....but I think mine is old enough to be before the behringer buy out years,.
To be fair, I've had mine for some years now. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a small thing like a solder joint or a bad 1/4" input or something, but I haven't taken the time to check it out. I had a Boss looper years ago that was built like a tank, and I'm convinced will outlast humankind. Should have stuck with that one.
My bos RC-3 is a mainstay on my bands noise\sound manipulation board. (The singer tweaks the samples etc..)
And yes, you’re absolutely right. It’s a tank, beer, cold weather, falls, hits, you name it. Just keeps on looping.
What boss looper did you have?
