That's his most recent one. Probably my 3rd favorite after "socially inept" and "enough conflict.
Excellent album.
Other recent ones are dark ambient. Also very good. But I consider those a completely different project, so I don't compare his ambient and IDM (for lack of a better term)
releases.

Line level compatible dirt is a pain in the @$$ to find.

I plan on getting Socially Inept soon! I’ll listen to the other one too! Currently listening to the Aphex Twin Syro record. Super playful and kinda silly at times, but I love it to death.

Sorry you've been out of sorts. Sending a virtual hug. This has been a very strange time for everyone, and in very personal ways.

To the fuzz...maybe buy one from a place with a return policy so you can test it out and send it right back if it doesn't work.

In the nature of being a hot mess these days, I flip-flopped and hit the buy button.
If nothing else, this will fit the black and red motif I've got, and fit right in with all the other giant pedals I have.

So I did play my Moog Sirin through both a Mastotron & old Woolly Mammoth (from 2000!). The Woolly Mammoth basically sounded thin and weird. The Mastotron offered a much wider range of possibilities.

I think my Sirin is stuck in drone mode - and I can't turn it off! The decay & sustain knobs don't have any effect. Fortunately, that's the main thing I want to do with it, but I'd like to be able to have short notes too. I finally tried connecting it to my Mac via USB to check out the editor - I was expecting a drone mode on/off but didn't see anything. Hoping I don't have to calibrate the tuning, I like things all analog...

Maybe I'll try my MFB Synth Lite II next. Though obviously not an all-analog synth, I think the decay/sustain/release will work and I can experiment with some more staccato sounds.

Did some delay comparison. I’m wondering if I’ve got a setting tweaked in my Empress delay, where the cab sim might be activated. The Zoia clean ping pong delay is so much clearer. I’be said the Zoia sounds aren’t terribly inspiring, meaning the chorus and flange and dirt, but the delays are pretty darn good.

Put together an ambient/noise piece/pedal demo:



Moog Sirin with sample & hold through Big Briar MF-104 Analog Delay Moogerfooger with occasional ZVEX Mastotron.

First distorted part is what I consider "good" sounding (RELAX) - second time around put it in the "passive instrument" (PUSH) setting. Then sweeping the PW knob (pulse wave?) - that seems to be equivalent to the "Pinch" knob on the Woolly Mammoth.

Line level compatible anything is a pain in the @$$ to find, that's why I'm a huge advocate of keeping a LittleLabs or Radial or the original Cuniberti Reamp box on hand...because eventually you'll want to run everything through everything. (Well, at least once.)

I may never do a mix session without the MOOD pedal on hand again.

Agreed on the line level thing. I blows big time. I guess no one cares about the weirdos like us.
OMFG , why would someone plug anything else than a guitar in a pedal….(jeezzzzz efffin….shizzz)…???? The humanity, think of the children/.

Strymon pedals work for line level

I think I said it could handle line level but was not meant to be used like that.
It sorta had a safety for a hotter input.
I also think there was an impedance mismatch.....i forget.

Best way is to try of your 500 series with the hydra or any other synth.

Boss pedals (stomp boxes) at line level ime:
Delay...all good.
All Dirt ...no go.
Reverb.....no go….and sometimes yes..,…. Worst is in aux of a mixer. Seems to depend on the impedance or maybe magic unicorn pixie dust.
Modulation.....depends....some yes some no


But I might be misremembering......???
