Ambient/Post-Rock/Textural bass playing thread

on that tip, i wanted to see if people were trying to cash in on the loupe. didn't see one on reverb or ebay . . . now that could mean they already cashed in a while back . . .

I’ve owned several Cwejman modules, which were already expensive (I still have a VCO and VCF module), but Wowa Cwejman passed away a few months ago and prices are insane now...something heartbreaking about seeing folks try to cash in on something like that

Any muff circuit needs to be first in any line of effects, and not sure if they'll work line level. You'd have to research that.

If anyone here would like to be part of a great effects Discord, the Collector//Emitter Discord is fantastic. Lots of builders hang out in there.
They dont work at line level.
trust me.

They dont need to be first either, just not too far down the signal chain, unless there’s a buffer before it.

See my previous post.
:)

Gear acquisition of the week: Little Labs Red Eye. I scored a rare good deal on a used passive one. I needed another DI but also wanted a re-amp. The DI sounds fantastic as a clean DI with a bit of heft to it. I like it much better than my VTDI in bypass or direct in to my RME. (VTDI doing the VTDI thing still sounds great of course).

If you want to run synths through pedals that are fussy for instrument level, a re-amp is your friend.

On composers composing: for some people, I think composing music is primarily an intellectual exercise. That doesn’t work for me musically (or more accurately, is irrelevant to whether I enjoy the music), but I am happy to read about it. Same with “blistering storm of notes from virtuoso” music. With the touch guitar thing I am further into the social world of prog than I’ve been in a long time, and have come to the conclusion that I have a different set of beliefs about the purpose of music, and skill at an instrument, than most in that scene.

Debating buying a fuzz pedal. I kinda don’t have a reason for it. I suspect it won’t work with a synth level and/or impedance.

i did a cursory look this morning. seems like there are not a lot out there.

plasma pedal? there’s a perfect circuit vid of it. they might know if it would work for your needs.

I hate that plasma sound in demos. I’ve been looking at a Muff based design. Some folks on ModWiggler say they’re using Muffs with no issues. Was thinking a Civil War design since they get high praise with bass.

I think I’m gonna pass. I’ve got a few pedals to sell and some modular gear I want to buy. I feel like adding a fuzz is just a distraction. Been a bit stressed and depressed and was thinking retail therapy would help.
