I still have a Bloom in my case. It’s pretty darn good at getting quick ideas, then randomizing that idea within a given scale. Easy to change pattern lengths or just put an LFO on the reset input to get happy accidents. I think it’s a little over $300, but can be had used for a bit less. Doesn’t take up a ton of space. Those are some positives about it. The Erica Black Sequencer or Intellijel take that same concept quite a bit further but are bigger and more expensive

Well, I just snagged a Korg SQ 64 and it’s cool but I could see wanting a dedicated sequencer in the rack.

I also grabbed…

The Chainsaw and Black DSP 2. Dang. Both are solid choices.

And, yes. I am trying to retail-therapy my way out of the COVID blues.

Congrats! I was brand new to modular when I got the Black Hole DSP (and a bunch of other stuff). I didn’t know the beauty of modulation, eg’s and such. For all I know, I’d be crazy about it now. at the time, between the BHDSP and Noise Engineering stuff…I had more digital in my rack than I wanted. I wanted to explore the analog side of things more, as it turned out. Now I’m open to whatever works. I only really regret selling one module and that’s my Cwejman SM-1. Oh well!

Whatever works. We are here to enable. Very interested in how you like the Chainsaw. It’s an interesting solution to the “polyphony in Euro” problem.

I've only had a few minutes with it, but I enjoy it. It definitely sounds like what it sounds like. I need to figure out how creative I want to get with patching it. I might need another VCA and/or filter to really get fancy, but I have plenty to work with.

Glad you liked it! I think she’s amazing. Had some really long drives on tours lately, so I bought everything she’s done, which ain’t a lot, but her vocal processing is so cool and interesting to me

Just realized the "Patch" knob has the white line scratched out. Must be B-stock or a return. No big deal.

I definitely helped the local economy this weekend. I'm taking today off work to enjoy the new noise makers.

Well, I think the Korg SQ 64 is going back. I just feel like I'm fighting it every time I power it up. It is not a live performance sequencer I can improvise with. The clock doesn't sync with a CV clock despite the 3.5mm jacks. It just feels clumsy and I regret not getting the Erica Black or the Make Noise Rene.

I'm glad got the Bloom. There's a learning curve to it, but it feels like I make progress playing it each time.

Man, I’ve been on the fence about getting a Pyramid for a couple years. The guy who just came out with the Norand Mono synth I just ordered helped develop the Pyramid. Torn between this and the Oxi One

So re listening to “Minsk” which is kind of like doom metal genre with tribal drumming, synth work and lots of long intro ambient and outro stuff… forget they also then delve into almost power noise full on psychadelic stuff halfway through their songs… ambient drums, synth pads and droning bass just went into layer upon layer of distortion and a screeching synth filter at full bite and almost destroyed my ear drums… whoops!

Anybody use the Doepfer MAQ 16/3? I have one, haven't used it in a long time - I enjoyed it when I first figured it out, then when I tried again I had forgotten some key skills which I am thinking of working on again. It has CV outs, hoping it might be compatible with the DFAM, whether being able to trigger the DFAM so that I can do odd times or even just sending a clock signal so could sync to sequences played on a different synth.
