Great vid in that it shows a lot of what seems to be real-time knob-tweaking, as well as just seeing a lot of the gear they're using.

And I love that the "single edit" is over 7 minutes long!

All of my hardware synths are ancient MIDI gizmos: nothing analog, nothing modular, and nothing more recent than a ~20-year-old Kurzweil K2Vx. So it almost feels like I'm in the same boat

...not that I necessarily want to get out of that boat, mind you. I know modern modular stuff would turn into a total time-suck/money-pit for me, and while I would genuinely love an original ARP 2600 or Moog Model 15, finding one that's reliable and affordable seems a pipedream. Plus it would still wind up being a total time-suck/money-pit for me!

Yeah, it’s nice there are some longer shots of her playing the violin near the end and synths also - that’s something I always wonder about, to what degree she does stuff besides the violin, especially during the long improvised encores they’ve been doing.

When buy get something it is a very well thought out process and said item must serve a specific task or role in my "creative process ".
If it doesn't work , off it goes.

I also get option paralysis quite easily. I end up working best scrounging what resources I have to the fullest and when somethings a miss, I make/create my own solutions.

I mostly feel guilty having stuff that's left unused.

I know that feeling. It’s not so bad when I feel like it’s something I can pick up and use without a learning curve. One thing I like about gear churn is that it exposes me to different ways builders address issues. I might not always like what they do, but I enjoy thinking about why they made certain choices.

I'm at a point that I know exactly what I'd want, but it doesn't exist.
Sort of a sampler/tape machine/loop/fx/mangler......thingy doo hickey.....

Speaking of unused gear - unloaded my Moog Little Phatty Tribute synth and Ibanez SR-506 bass - this now resides in my house, waiting to be unboxed when I finish my work (I'm trying to be good!):
