The YouTube link should keep the video up for a bit.

I had a blast. It had some fun spots and some lulls. It’s the best kind of live stream because you can just ignore it and look over every few minutes. It doesn’t go anywhere fast :)

I managed to keep it computer-free except for some samples (I didn’t have a better sampler). Children of the Corn was running in the background and there’s a spot where the music intensity lined up pretty well with the video. I felt like I was scoring the film.

I caught a small chunk - when I first tuned in you had the Miezo out, but I was uploading videos for work, so by the time I switched to my iPhone it was gone. I could only watch for another 5-10 minutes - I was wondering what was on the monitor - did you have the sound on in the room?

Thanks for tuning in! The YouTube link still has the video up, but you have to fast forward about an hour to get to the start. I certainly don’t expect anyone to try to absorb the whole thing. As I said to duke, the thing I kinda like about this event is that it can almost be ignored. Tune in, let it run in the background for a bit while you do something else, and then go on with your day.

The monitor behind me was running Children of the Corn. I didn’t have any sound on in the room (other than my humming AC unit). Around the crucifixion scene I felt like the music started to sync up with the video so I focused on trying to keep that going. After Children ended, it rolled into Hellraiser.

I swear the “dollar to note ratio” for the gear used last night was ludicrous. Using and F Bass for that was beyond unnecessary.

Just a bit of a joke. I could’ve certainly done the job with a less fancy tool, but I was happy with the results and that’s the key.

Surprisingly, my back feels a lot better today. I needed to get lost in a few hours of music to relax. If nothing else, doing the stream was helpful for that reason.

It’s funny how TB (and similar sites) can seemingly breed a mentality of more money must mean better sound, while simultaneously dismissing the value of expensive instruments as wasteful. There’s always a thread about “if I had X dollars to spend on an instrument…” where the responses are “I’d buy something cheaper that’s just as good, and save the difference.” Yet you’ll still find people clamoring for some premium boutique item.

imo, some people don’t value that musical part of themselves. or possibly they don’t really care.

i often think that some people are willing to spend money on a nice tv every couple of years or cable tv packages every month that as an aggregate cost more in a few years than a good instrument that can last a lifetime.

it’s all about priorities, imo.

(now when my kids were young, my focus was on feeding them, etc. before and after were/are different.)

Got the Mooer a7 today. Definitely a reverb newbie (more short delay time long feedback ambient), so I don't have any good reference points. Definitely 3 patches I like. Some are pretty "meh," but I don't really have a use for much subtle right now. Cool by me, because I just wanted to add some warble/ambience after the MuRF. Would be a bonus if it was interesting after a ZVex Machine, but I haven't messed with that much. For doing a couple things well for the size/price, I am completely happy. I don't think it is special, but it is good enough.

Just noticed the manual says 200mA draw for a Mooer pedal. Ran fine off 100mA, but didn't think it'd even draw that much. Didn't think to look even. Anyone know roughly what these pedals actually draw? I guess at some point it'll just fail, but don't exactly want to dedicate a full 200mA channel to this.

partially not worth the money, partially they don’t have enough faith in themselves or think it’s really a worthwhile endeavor.

ps: “it’s not worth the money to me, so why would it be to someone else?”

I’ve noticed time-based effects can draw some high mA values, so that number doesn’t shock me. I think the Empress Delay and Reverb are in the 500 mA range.

After more fooling around, it is fine sharing 100mA with a Meatwad, which I don't think draws a lot. You're not wrong about delay/reverb in general though I don't think. If I had to guess, 200mA would be the max required using the USB. I have another pedal listed that way. But at some point something won't load right. I'll give it 100mA for now.

My collaborator got the audio boiled down to this, for anyone looking to listen without being on YT. I’m only partially through listening, but generally happy with the result. It was a long session with the usual assortment of highs and lows. I learned a few things and got a few new ideas.
