okay . . . um, horn-tooting time. my pal (and badass musician/composer) gregg bendian has been doing a series of podcast interviews with some serious folks. how i ended up as the subject of one is beyond me, but there it is.

The more I look at gear these days, the dumber I feel about not learning the stuff I have better.

This. Starting with my actual bass guitar. I heard an interview with Itzhak Perlman where they asked him if he played any instruments besides violin, and he answered that he still has things to learn on the violin.

I've shared these guys with duke. While not ambient, this particular album of theirs is pretty sample heavy, integrated with a darker surf sound. I figured I'd share with the group.

Well, if I can use it, it must not be that hard to learn because I’m a total knuckledragger with that sort of stuff. It has to be something you feel truly interested for what you want to do and I’ve been a big sampling nut since I was a kid.

Looking forward to viewing that! Gregg played vibes on the 2nd Debris album, the tribute to Anthony Braxton that I did not participate in. He definitely seems like a guy with wide-ranging and eclectic tastes: I loved his trio with Randy McKean and Tomas Ulrich, and that Bone Structure CD you sent me is badass...and then there's his Mahavishnu Project. And none of it sounds the same.

Your old is showing discussing vinyl vs CD formats. (You know I'm joking right)


And I freakin love noisy artifacts on recordings, tape hiss and crackle.....
But they they can take away from the actual music, that I definitely agree with also.
So I can go both ways on this.

My Zoia just came back from Canada. The power jack seems to be working normally now (it was shutting down the pedal with any bump or movement of the pedal). The replacement encoder is a huge improvement. I forgot how much I actually enjoy the super clean delay sounds. Time to patch.

finishing my Bass equipment frenzy now, which i started 10 months ago, since i started then to play Bass again.
........while that money could have went into my modular otherwise, oh my........

Need a midi interface to go midi to usb, which means more gear :/

there are "midi cables" available, which are at the same time a midi-dinSync to USB adapter ! so in the 15$ area should this come. Its not considered to be "more gear"
my ones work fine. But there might be also crap on the market.

strymon seems to think the money is in modular.

just, the pedal market is the *way* bigger market !

but they might have way higher margins with the eurorack.
yet, question is how much the smaller quantities do weigh here in.
