Ambient/Post-Rock/Textural bass playing thread

Thanks, it is indeed quite unique.
Don't forget to ask why he got rid of it.

Maybe I should just go to the local hardware store and buy 30$ worth of crap to sample and loop instead?

so. he still has it. he's also a bass player (ebass and upright).

here's what he had to say:

"Hey! I do indeed have one and it’s an awesome instrument"

"Sort of a misbehaving robot"

"But also a good amount of control"

"Feels very very playable"

i ask: <so useful for improvy sorts of things?>

him:

"Yes very"

"Kind of almost exclusively for improvy things"

"It’s reallllly hard to rebuild patches"

Thanks for asking those questions for me, very much appreciated.
Just pushed me closer off the edge of going down the rabbit hole.

Interesting frequency splitter.

I feel this was helpful and unhelpful.

lol

sometimes experimenting with new stuff yields new ideas/directions. sometimes it’s mindless consumerism.

not sure where i am on that continuum right now.
I hear you, I shouldn't complain too much.
My bands album is ready to drop, probably December since we want to do a live set to coincide with it.
(easier said than done in all this fubar)

Still, I believe I need an inspiration/motivation/idea super vitamin shot.

I haven't followed the link to confirm, but if I'm understanding the front panel correctly, the crossover frequencies between bands can be modulated via control voltages? If so that is very cool, definitely a feature I would make use of

...presuming I had any free time to sit around programming :(

The more I look at gear these days, the dumber I feel about not learning the stuff I have better. Planning new deep dives into the Octatrack. I still don’t know the Arranger very well and there’s a truckload of possibilities to use the arranger while performing/improvising. Also want to try using it to sequence Logic. Need a midi interface to go midi to usb, which means more gear :/

yeah, interesting.

the octatrack and stuff like that is too much for my brain to deal with. i need knobs and stuff.

right now, i've decided to go into some stuff i don't understand much at all and experiment with sounds and see what happens. so far i'm kinda of happy with it.

the gateway drug thing is horribly true—i went from pack of cigarettes to a full-blown heroin addiction in about 3 weeks.
