Getting to use my M8 tracker for its intended purpose this weekend. Killing time on long drives. It’s working well in that regard 
A ring modulator? I would use one everywhere!
I used to own an original Maestro Ring Modulator, the one designed by Tom Oberheim. Sadly, that got lost in a divorce... someone else's divorce!
For a while I used the Ring Modulator patch in an Alesis QuadraVerb+
Nowadays I don't have a dedicated ring modulator, but I tend to use the Iron Ether FMeron to emulate a lot of ring mod sounds.
I think my attraction to the sound of ring modulation comes mostly from listening to a lot of John McLaughlin's recordings, especially the first Mahavishnu album where Jan Hammer ran his Rhodes through one, or the fifth Mahavishnu album where John put his guitar through a 360 Systems Frequency Shifter:
So yeah, that sound? Use it everywhere!!!

Few effects get my nuts to retreat into my pelvis like a ring mod does! I have yet to find any instance where I don't absolutely hate that sound. It's so ugly and abrasive... which is why I suspect a few of you fine folks find it so endearing!
Of course, different strokes for different folks.
The equivalent of fetal sonograms for basses. Should be ready in January, provided no hold-ups at Nordstrand. Bottom one is the top and the veneer being glued to the body.
I gotta say, of the three I've dealt with (Stambaugh, Bordwell and Clement), Clement definitely sends you more pics than anyone, pretty much every time he does something. He said that piece of Spanish cedar for the body is super light, so I'm looking forward to checking that out, considering how none of my other basses are less than 10 pounds (Stammie might be just under that, closer to 9).

all ring mods are not created equal. imo, most are not particularly good. the best i've heard is the moog stuff (and the stuff that hammer and corea used, which is oberheim, i guess?)
The idea of ring mod with distortion just makes me think of the nine inch nails year zero noise album stuff… I’m sure they can make it sound good but I probably wouldn’t be able to replicate that!
Took a little trial and error but I’ve got the EuroZoia running as a VCO with a SVF, controlled by an external sequencer and a joystick for the filter.
I think Tony Iommi used a ring mod on some of his guitar work with Black Sabbath back in the day. And since, well, Tony Iommi is a god, that pretty much validates use of the effect as far as I'm concerned lol.
The Paranoid guitar solo has it. I think I saw an interview somewhere where he mentioned hating the recording because of the effect on the solo. Maybe it was a dream.
Funny. He might've hated it, but generations of fans love it.
Even funnier is that, IIRC, Paranoid was a filler track recorded at the last minute to make the album full, and wound up being Sabbath's biggest hit.
Same with Cherry Pie. Probably the same with several songs throughout history.
Please never again mention Cherry Pie in a sentence with Black Sabbath ever again lol
Maybe the fact that OG Gonkulator is pretty tame sounding and the ring mod is untuneable makes it a bit of a dud.

My favorite fun fact about Paranoid is that it’s got no chorus. It is obvious it doesn’t yet that never dawned on me because there are still a few hooks in it.
I was so focused on riffs in my youth that songwriting elements weren’t on my radar. Also, I just heard Bobby Liebling of Pentagram say he hates doom metal because it lacks certain songwriting characteristics he values.
