Ambient/Post-Rock/Textural bass playing thread

@steubig , last year I was doing some research on affordable monitors. I ended up with Kali LP-6 monitors, and I really like them.

Send a message to Giacomo Merega about his Adam Audio monitors. I think he recently upgraded his, and he loves them.

it’s between the adam and kali 8s for me. i want that extra low capability.

Yeah, MTL is like a whole other world.
Too big of a city for me personally.
I'm in Québec city, sorta not too big not too small town.
Indeed, this province is huge, plenty of cool people and awesome places to visit.
I'm not allowed into your fine country because a protest I was at in 2003 turned into a full-blown riot, and I got sweeped up by the Montreal Gestapo while sitting on a curb eating a sandwich.

I used to love and lust over the huge all tube heads and totally understand the following they get and deserve. Part of me is still considering finding an old Mesa beast to add to the collection. But, once I started getting heavy into effects, I started on the insanely overpowered SS heads. I would still have my GBE1200 if it wasn't stolen. Now I've got a Genzler MG800 and love it to death. I like being able to get a super clean tone with headroom to Mars and back before I completely destroy the signal with my pedals.

But back on topic, this combo has been lots of fun today:

I think the MG800 is the last head I will ever buy. I don't use it too much because it powers my big rig which doesn't get much use nowadays, but out of all the amps I've tried, it's the only one that makes my basses sound like they're supposed to, in terms of transparency. Love it, and if they made a small combo with the amp built in (they don't, they mount a head to the top of the cab, which is silly), I'd sell my Markbass in a heartbeat.

I forgot to report on a couple of gear successes - figured out how to trigger the DFAM with my MAQ sequencer, so now I can do stuff in odd times! And I learned how to get just the effected signal out of my RE-201 Space Echo - just plug a dummy cable into the PA input! (Thank you Soundgas for the Roland Tape Echo Tips, Tricks & Tales)

Get yourself an Empress Reverb. It's incredible. Both normal and crazy reverb sounds.

I actually briefly considered grabbing one during a Black Friday sale impulse moment, but resisted. Maybe next year...

I saw him open for Zombi a couple of years ago in a small club - had no idea what I was in for! Amazing, I was really blown away, with the homemade instruments, including what looked like a cement wheel suspended from a chain hanging from one of his synths. (Found a pic!)

The only cabs I currently own are an ampeg 410hlf and an svt115e. The 15 stays in the basement, since I have no business running a full stack at my project studio desk, but living in the suburbs with a few hours before the wife and kids get home each day give me a little window to crank that thang up a bit and have some fun. I would love to build a 2x12 and 2x10 stack with the Genzler Nu Classic cabs, but since I have close to zero change of playing a gig any time soon, that money would be better spent on basses and pedals. I can do enough damage to my ears with what I already have.
