Ambient/Post-Rock/Textural bass playing thread

I think I may have just created another ambient textural bassist. My little sister and her band came to record some demos in my home studio.
Knocked stuff out quickly, bass, drums, uke. Bass player played all flatwound jazz bass with just a tuner.
After we were done and had some dinner, I asked her if she wanted to check out my pedalboard.
Between the Zoia, Sy-200, and Ultrawave, she was entranced!

For reverbs, my current favourites are the immerse and the Eventide. More thoughts here: The Great Bass-Friendly Reverb Hunt 2020: Immerse, Ventris, RV-500, Elle, Helix, and H9
I'm not even sure if it's something I really want, or just a distraction. Also, not sure if it would be something I would have in-line while recording (in which case mono would be better) or applied afterwards while mixing. Lately I've been putting stuff back into their boxes, then pulling things out as it seems relevant.
Also, not sure if this would be for bass or synths/other stuff! I should dig back through that thread though - I do read it when people post there.

Interesting update on the album releases... been still going through a bunch of my stuff and finding the best, and then within that, finding out what goes together. Same with the duo.
My duo partner and I like to do winter mountaineering, and we were summiting some peak in the NH White Mts today. We obv. talk a lot about the music, and I brought up that thing with him that we've talked about before - the self-doubt/is-it-good-enough thing, and how it's frustrating me in figuring out what to use.
I said when I'm listening to these tunes, I'm deep listening... every part, every nuance, all that, and I get hyper-critical and hit a block.
He said, "So, essentially, you don't listen to it like you listen to all of the other music in these genres that you listen to, constantly."
"Um, no. "
"So you only listen to it with a very critical ear. Just throw it in your normal listening rotation of all that other stuff you like, and let me know if you even notice it, or if you just think it's the normal good stuff you like."
So I did that in the car on the way home and again when I was doing a bit of work tonight, and he was right. Wife walks in and she's like, "Ooh, what's this? " (she gets my stuff) I tell her it's us, and she's like, well, you two know what you're doing. Sounds as good as all that stuff you listen to. I told her what he said, and she agreed.
I just realized what I'm doing wrong. I'm not listening to my and our ambient music like it's ambient music. I'm listening to it like I listen to prog rock. I just realized I have a lot more stuff that's worth putting out than I'd originally thought.

Spent a few hours today setting my retrokits 006 midi hub only to discover it won’t exactly work for what I want it to do. [insert wall punch gif here].

I want my Vector Sequencer to set tempo. I want to be able to route my Linnstrument to everything (including the Vector, but also some stuff in the modular, any monosynths I have hooked up, and the coming poly), and I want to sometimes plug in my iPad as another sound source also controlled by the Linnstrument but I don’t want it to have to there in order to work.
So I need a MIDI hub that can be a USB host but can also talk to another USB host. Seems the iConnectivity ones do that but the 006 does not. I just didn’t understand that when I ordered. Not their fault.
Also my Bluebox isn’t taking tempo over MIDI but that may be a bad cable. Need to investigate. Their tech support is good, too, so I am not worried.
I did achieve several other things today, though, and I am getting better and better at the Vector. Also my wife helped me out with a little craft project to stick labels on my Launchpad, which I’m using to control some functions on the Vector.

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. I think we are always hypercritical of our own stuff. Some of mine I really can't stand to listen to.
Even worse is the fact that when I record it, mix it, and often, edit it into a video, I get really sick of hearing it over and over again. For me to like it after all of that it has to be something really special and that only applies to a small handful of tracks I've recorded over the last 10 years or so.
