sounds pretty big too.. 
The Toroid is the power Tranny and the HO TRAIN transformer is the Audio.
This thing sounds vintage fast, thick, full, clear, warm. punchy and massive... I have used many hi $$ DIs over the decades but for me it just rules..

What's with the EI transformer? Pretty big to be the audio line out transformer, eh?

Pretty...although it looks like a bit more solder could have been used on some of the turrets (connecting the Orange Drops at the bottom of the photo and the black component next to the Orange Drop doesn't look to well soldered either at the top). Could have removed some more flux too (which will attract dust). Sorry...you asked.
I was quite surprised reading the excellent amp reviews in Bass Gear Magazine to see that some big-buck boutique tube heads have missed solder joints in them. You'd think with only a couple dozen solder joints in the whole amp that the builder could take the time to inspect each one more carefully.
Micas, Sprague Beauties, CDE Beavers, etc.
It's an old Dukane tube PA head - sounds fantastic. Just amazing tone. Two 6L6's for power, so between 30-50 watts, probably closer to 35 or so. Through a 1x15 cab it is pure old school bass tone. Smokes my old B15, I'm sad to say.

Sounds like it is a real winner though.
Very cool! Makes me sad that I parted with an old EICO audio amp of the same configuration in the early/mid '90s.

It sounds killer - I'll be posting a bit longer clip of the $89 SX Jazz Bass though this amp in a little while, so you'll be able to hear it ! It's uploading to Youtube as we speak.
Hidden treasures, my friend ! Seriously, I use this with my band live all the time. Yeah, it isn't a loud rock band, but this amp is more than loud enough - in fact I rarely get it above about 9'clock on the volume knob ! Amps like this are definitely worth looking into if you don't need tons of power, or if you do a fair amount of studio work.
