It's a really good cab, especially for the $$$. I put shellac over the tweed covering to add a old school look and to protect it a bit better. It looks like an old relic cab now. :)

Here's a video demoing a $89 SX Jazz Bass through this amp. Audio is the cheap cameras internal mic, so it's a bit compressed, but you can pretty much hear what the amp and cabinet sound like.

TOTAL - $395

Not bad. The amp sounds much better "live" when the camera mic isn't compressing it all to heck, but it gives a good idea of the tone. Glad you liked it !

I actually wouldn't mind picking up another one, just because. Old tube PA heads can be really cool, as long as you're in an appropriate band to use them. :bassist:

Thanks, amazing what a $100 Kodak camera can do ! As for the amp, I love it. It's the sound I hear in my head. I've only had to go through 4,586 amps prior to this in order to achieve that tone. :eek: :D

Damn, Jimbo, I am super bummed to hear that. :hmm:

In case you don't know, THE man to call with regard to any Trace Elliot repairs (or amp repairs in general, really) is Shane Radtke over at British Audio Service.

I'm sure that VA350 can be brought back to 100%! :bassist: :bassist: :bassist:

Ah it's ok, my brother's a very competent electrician/engineer and he's pretty confident in doing the repair if it's something simple.

When he got it serviced, 2 of the caps were replaced (you can see the ones in the pic, they're blue instead of black) and the tech who did it (I'm not sure who, it might even have been the afformentioned Mr Radtke) supplied a full service report, so my Bro will read through and see if he feels confident doing the repair. If he doesn't he'll ship it off to a tech again...He's clever enough not to be stupid. :smug:
