So, only the power amp stage is tube on it (along with the phase inverter I assume), the preamp looks to be IC based?

You can also take a OP as a PI... The Ashdown HP said, the preamp is Tube-driven...

Perhaps, but in the photo, the Opamps are physically close to the input jack and the non power tube appears to be fed from the master volume control (which would strongly suggest that it's the phase inverter).

Hence, my comment. I am sure it is a great amp, just not an all tube one. Interesting that they followed the Music Man way of amp topology. Any other companies do this (SS pre-tube power amp)?

Jepp, Ashdown answered, the preamp is solid state, only the power amp is tuby...

Lots, but often there is a token preamp valves among the SS preamp, sometimes on a dedicated channel. Sunn/Fender Bassman 300T, Laney Nexus, all the ashdown valve jobs with ABM preamps. Also big in Italy in the 70s, Mac and Gem have SS pres often.

Anyone know why there's an empty V3 socket location on the printed circuit board?

I can only guess that perhaps that could be for a rectifier tube if they made a guitar version of the amp?

No, the mainboard is used also for the Hayden MoFo 15H, the Guitar version of this low-watt-amp:

In that amp is the missing tube a "indicator"-tube, like a EM84.

I like the dummy load box in that pic. I'm assuming you built that yourself. Got any drawings, pics or care to share specs for the resistors you used? I think its time for me to put one of these together and it's going to need to be in the 300-400 watt range.
