ampeg b200r problem

i would like some advice please

i am losing volume on the active input circuit (-15db)of my b200r, until recently my stingray would easily send the input signal strength well into the red at about 5 on the gain control. now i can wind the gain up to 10 and still not get in the red. the guitar active circuit and battery are fine and i cross checked with my snadberg bass and got the same result. now i have to use the standard input socket to get any decent volume. could this be a symptom of the pre amp valve being on the way out?

Did you say that the passive input works fine... or that running an active bass through the pad-free passive input is your only way to get any preamp signal?

Sounds like you need to replace the preamp tube.

thats right, the active input give a very low signal strength

the only way to get a decent volume is through the passive input jack.

thanks for the advice , i'll try a replacement pre amp tube
