ampeg... down the drain...

I've had rotten customer service on all sorts of things.

You don't like it for your amp, and you shouldn't have to take it.

How about on a $12,000 piece of gear that has to be assembled with other equipment and sent out to a customer who wants it last week? You'd think the manufacturer might be interested on a 12 grand sale...... but it took us several days to get anywhere.

Definitely call Loud.

Get in contact with Dino if possible, he is a holdover from SLM, and understands how to do customer service...... unlike some others at Loud, thankfully mostly among the not-so-dear departed. He will know what to do.

I have no love or respect for any Ampeg product past the '70s really, but come on people. Anything you turn on or ask to do something other than sit there can fail. Yes it stinks, but that is life learn to deal with it. Contact a real live person about your problem!

BTW G-K RB series are built here in the US and are a quality product.

just make a phone call and stop whining about it. things break. i have never had a problem with louds customer service. i own more then $4000 worth of ampeg equipment and use it on a regular basis and the only problem ive had in 3 years was a tube went out on my svtcl. thats it. threads like this one are really annoying and childish. you spent as much time if not more time creating and posting in this thread then it would have taken you to just call them and fix your problem.

well from what I read at the mo. on these forums seems like your taking a 50/50 chance when you buy Ampegs new these days ....

insane considering the price .. .. but having worked in the MI industry there are plenty of marketing dominated firms out there that are willing to sacrifice quality for quantity.

So the rule for myself is you have to watch out with everything you buy right now

Hey,

I've had contact with Ampeg and Loud quite recently with great results, they sent me the spares I wanted for free because I complained about the lack of support for parts in the UK. This is how it went:

I emailed Dino, someone came back to me, I told them that spares are on massive backorder and that some is taking the mick. Next thing I had manager of LOUD UK and some CEO from the states too.

They are listening, just keep pestering. The Shawshank method does work.

wow i really hate to contribute to the negativity but i fell i must. i was at gc earlier today and i was talking to a gentlemen in the bass room about ampeg and he ordered an svtvr from gc. the 1st one was dead right out of the box it wouldnt even power on, the 2nd one had a bad power tube right out of the box, the 3rd one had a microphonic tube out of the box, and the 4th one he is still waiting for. i was very disapointed to hear this. and the vr they had on display was making a pretty strange humming noise and the grill was crooked as hell. they need to take care of there stuff asap.

It is a darn shame they let you go Jerrold. :rollno:

Regardless of the fact that I dislike the shift in overseas production, I have had nothing but great service from the folks at Ampeg. Anytime I've had to order parts, had a general question, or needed help locating a piece of gear - the service reps and sales folks have been excellent. My advice would be to call their corporate service line and actually speak to someone, rather than relying solely on email. If you can never get through to anyone, PM me and I'll give you a different # to try.

I have nothing but good to say about the way I was treated by ampeg support. I sent an email with my problem and had a reply the same day with a list of authorized repair shops in my area. I wasnt charged a penny for repairs and Dino answered my emails personally and even emailed back to see if my problem was looked after. I've never had customer support as good as this before.

I still have a lot of love for ampeg, but I have a theory about current issues. As some of you know, I have a late model Vietnam SVT VR, bought at the beginning of this year and probably one of the last few to come form Vietnam. It continues to behave perfectly as seem to many others from this late Vietnam period. I put this down to the fact that by the time I bought mine the factory had ironed out earlier teething problems that one might expect when you start a new production line.
However, now that production has shifted to Korea they seem to be experiencing the same early production issues. I know of two Korean CLs over here that had to be returned for various issues. This would seem to support Nightlife's comment from above. Fortunately the agents were quick to replace the faulty amps. No doubt thing will get sorted quickly as production settles down, and Korea certainly has a good rep. I continue, however, to have a lot of faith in the late Vietnam models, it seems a shame that jsut as things seemed to be sorted out they shift production and have to start again. Just my .02.

point is, after less two years of use, it should still function.

ive given them quite a bit of my money, they can atleast give me a few minutes of their time and reply.

I cant help but think you're email to Ampeg could've been rude & offensive. That'd explain there lack of a reply to you. Many companies will go beyond the warranty period hapily, but you need to appraoch the subject with some degree of tact & politeness.Electronics, like alot of things in life, can & do fail.
Maybe try reading your warranty conditions,& take your amp, with the original reciept of sale to an authorised Ampeg dealer & try to be nice. You might be pleasantly surprised how helpful they can be when dealing with a pleasant customer.

Couldnt pay me to buy an apmeg for this reason alone. It's aHUGE factor in what to buy IMO.

Not to be annoying and bring up the obvious but look at Genz Benz...for one, there productes are so supperior that they rarely have to be fixed and when they do you can be sure of same day response. You need to have this support IMO to be confident in a company

Obviously Ampeg's wayy bigger, among a million other factors, but the horror stories I hear make me stay clear!!sorry to hear that man...and I recomend Genz BTW!!
