ampeg... down the drain...

after less than two years of use, my ampeg b2re no longer functions. I wrote ampeg over a month ago about the problem, and they have yet to reply.

i strongly urge you not to buy ampeg. instead, buy from a company who makes a quality product right here in the USA! And a company who cares about their customers!

ampeg=dissappointment

I'd seriously consider rephrasing that statement, personally.

Not because I'm an Ampeg-lover (I'm not), but because there are plenty of representatives of other companies on here who manufacture overseas - often with much higher quality than some of the US-made competition.

Place of manufacture means almost nothing when it comes to electronics. It all comes down to the standard of quality that the company has put on the factory and its workers. Higher QC is more expensive, but it always yields a better, more reliable product.

As some may know I am an avid defender of Ampeg, but I recently have had to reassure a colleague who had to wait three months for a new Korean SVT-CL, only to have it fail the second time he used it (high pitched squealing noises). I have assured him that the consensus on this forum is that the move to Korea was a good one and just get it fixed under the warranty and enjoy it. The shop was mortified and sent it away to their tech immediately. Occasionally components will fail unpredictably, an unfortunate fact of mass production. That said, my Vietnam VR cntinues to rule my roost.

point is, after less two years of use, it should still function.

ive given them quite a bit of my money, they can atleast give me a few minutes of their time and reply.
I don't disagree with that second part. But things do break from time to time. Is it still in warranty after 2 years? If not, the most Ampeg will do is put you in touch with the closest repair shop but you'll still have to pay for it.

Pretty sure Ampeg rocks a 5 year warranty. Give them a call (not sure why people expect emails to get answered all the time). I had an SVT-3 pro that I had to have repaired. I called Ampeg tech support (the number is on their website even) and they said just take my receipt and amp to the nearest Ampeg repair facility. For me, that facility ended up being my local music store anyway, so all was good.

I wouldn't even take the time contacting them. Just look up the nearest repair facility to you, and take your amp and receipt. They'll hook you up.

Kind of a side point, but just because something might be made in the U.S does not instantly mean it`s better quality than stuff made over seas. MarkBass would be a good example of a foreign company that makes some of the best products in today`s bass market. Their customer service is also phenomenal and (IMHO, YMMV) arguably one of the best today.

Why shouldn't people expect their e-mails to get answered? Especially if it's customer service related, an e-mail should get just as prompt a reponse as a voice message. Maybe even better. E-mail is how a lot of people roll today (including myself, cause then I have everything in writing plus I'm reasonably assured I'll get a response in my own language) -- so it should not get 2nd class treatment when it comes to customer service. The company I work for, the rule is that unless the e-mail is spam, you respond to it within 4 business hours of reciept.

i had an under warrenty 210he that went down a few years back (but after Load took over) and they just shipped me a new one, no hastles.

as much as i preferred ampeg owned by SLM and stuff built in the USA, this was easier than drving across town to get it repaired by a certied shop and waiting. has to do this for several 115e's that blew drivers.

i put my toe barely back in the ampeg water.
i bought a used svt1x15en usa cab the other day for smaller gigs.
forgotten how much i love it. throaty mids for a 15, no tweeter.

+1 use the telephone. Find your reciept so they can varify the warranty. Besides, your slamming an entire company that makes a whole range of bass amplifiers, from very affordable budget models, (like yours), all the way to some very top shelf pro gear. One bad amp doesn't curse the whole operation. Try a little harder to get the issue resolved, rather than opening a thread slamming a company, AND a country.
