I'm not entirely an expert on the subject, but when I listen to people talk about the sansamp, I hear a pretty notable association between the unit's coloration and it's massive midscoop (something I can attest to in brief trials with the unit). However, my bass (with my hands) has a pretty notable midrange bump of its own, so I suppose a flat response would what I'd be seeking in the Flipster.

I just finished my flipster.

Really nice. I wanted a low gain distortion, so I started out with all 2N4547 Fets with 4.5 V on the first 3 and 7 V on the last.

Pretty much exactly what I was looking for.

Of course, I'll still keep experimenting....

First I want to excuse, because my English isn't very good, I'm from Bulgaria and here this is not the main language. In Bulgaria there are a lot of DIY maniacs, if i can say so. But there isn't anybody to sell kits or something like that. The Flipster is great effect, I think. I've built it many times. The Bulgarian bassists like it very much. Here is one picture(this is the cheaper variant, it don't look so good, I have others with better design, but they are more expensive ) This is the picture -

In bulgaria this cost 30 Euro, this is not kit it's ready to rock :) Now I don't have picture of the flipster with the better design, but it's similar to that(another DIY effect, but for guitar) [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] But the letters are red, I think red letter are suitable for black box :) I have one questions for James Hart I didn't understand, what is the mod in your Flipster, J201 are changed with MPF102 for less gain, or there is something other.

Thanks James Hart. Yes the price in Bulgaria is this, and for us this is normal, because here the average monthly salary is about 250 Euro. The more expensive variant is about 40-50 Euro, and it more sold, because people prefer better design. Many People from our neighbors countries and from all over Europe buy it from me, and from other people that make effects, because thеir monthly salary is much bigger, and for them this is good price. I have one friend, who is going to study in the USA and I think to give him maybe 10 pieces of the Flipster to sell them and if there is success I will send him more of it.

Do you understand my bad English ? :hiding::D

grab a schematic and a Mouser catalog... the bits and pieces can be had for close to that price :)

I didn't find a text at runoffgroove.com that says I can't use the schematic, is there? Yes, the elements are close to this price, but i made my own layout and the potentiometers are onboard for less noise. And making a good box and building one effect is not easy. It needs time, money and skills of course ;)

I am very happy that you can understand me :)

P.S Sorry, but what is Mouser catalog :( ?

you're allowed to use the schematic if you build one and don't try to sell it. but you are supposed to contact them if you sell them and work out a licensing arrangement. whether you do or not is between you and your conscience...i doubt anyone's going to bulgaria to sue you ;)
