I’ve got a big problem with those know nothing astrophysicists. They say that the earth revolves on an axis, and that the earth rotates around the sun. It can’t be. I know what I feel, and if the earth was rotating I’d feel it, and all the stuff would fall off my shelves. I know what I see, and I see the sun come up in the east in the morning, go across the sky during the day, and set in the west in the evening. It has to be rotating around the earth to do that.
These threads always end up in the same place, with subjectivists saying ‘trust your ears’, as if engineers don’t have ears. I’ve never yet met an engineer who didn’t listen to what he invented. I’ve never met one who didn’t use his brain to create his inventions, and I’ve never seen a pair of ears capable of inventing anything without the aid of what lies in between them. The subjectivists always accuse the engineers of saying that mixed cabs can’t work. I’ve never seen an engineer say that. What they do say is that mixing cabs is unpredictable. They also say that two cabs will almost always work better than one. That’s all they say, but that’s not what the subjectivists want to read, so that’s not what they see. I guess they should learn to trust their eyes. That takes us back to the sun rotating around the earth argument. Do I believe my eyes, or Stephen Hawking? What does he know?
