The " or she " is nice and all but you really think it's necessary? We never used to have to say that...and never got dirty looks for it either.:hiding:


I'm trying to bait you into spilling the beans but it's obviously not working. It's why I have the frontman deal with the people and I just make sure all the wires and knobs are where they're supposed to be and stuff.....


What's "less desirable" about the late '70's V4B? I had sort of a line on one but I think it sold already.

I plan on using it with one or two 210av's most of the time, but folded horn 215 reissue would be cool. Would I get one? Probably not, but I could see it being big with dubmeisters and doom rockers. But really, I'd dig it with any of their current cabs except maybe the HLF series. And a more normal direct radiating 215 would be cool as well. And a 2-way neo woofer/mid cab would also be cool if it were voiced more like an 810e.

Man, your pictures crack me up...here this guy has this beautiful V4B rig that looks like it never left his house, only to have a single Groove Tube 7027 next to the 3 stock tubes. It's like if you took the Mona Lisa and painted in earbuds on her head.

As I recall, the amp had been sitting for 35 years unsold in a music store. They claimed that it had less than one hour of playing time in all those years. Hard to believe but I'd love to find a time capsule store like that one.

It pains me to see that GT tube there as well. You figure that someone working in the store just had to pull the original tube and managed to break it.

Yeah, but I'll tell you...after a couple gigs cranking the master up to 3:00 and using gain to control volume in some rented SVT-CL's I've been using, I think for all practical purposes it's just as good as having a single volume knob. Right around 3:00 seems to be just right to cop that non-master vibe for me. So if they make it a master volume style, won't bother me.

That's cool with me. I'd just crank the master or take it out/hardwire around it. I love non-master volume tube amps, nothing is more responsive to touch/feel. Dude only wanted $200 for it. Doesn't turn on and he admittedly doesn't know why. Maybe something cheap/simple, maybe a lost cause. I was willing to take the gamble but can't get ahold of the guy. I assume someone snatched it up but I'm sectretly hoping he's just out of town on gigs and I'll get a call monday to come get it.:)

Wishful thinking....my logical side knows better.:smug:

Ya, I know it's a steal, (meaning a deal, not actually stolen). I'm cheap....some call it frugal and consider it a quality.:D

I haven't seen any announcements about a stolen V4 so maybe it's from another town???


Stolen gear isn't funny, I know first hand, but I have a pretty good eye for BS/dodgy characters when dealing with folks in person. Any red flags...I'm out, and start looking around for people missing stuff that fits the description.

I have 3 emails in to this guy over the course of a week and no response. It's sitting atop an older Yamaha keyboard. Either the amp is gone, he's gone, or when he sees all the emails he's going to want more for it.:p

Oh, well.....such is life.

I was hoping fuse or a power or standby switch and then envisioned me smiling from ear to ear. My logical side is a little smarter than that too, but ya never know.:D


If the guy's not in jail by now, some tech or crafty bass player around here is either playing it, or the same amp will be available for about $700 in the very near future.:p

All of a sudden not working reeks of a fuse. One of my guitar players was losing his mind one day when his amp did it. I fixed it for $3.

Ya, sucks. I don't get hyped up like this over anything new at all. Thought I wanted a Streamliner for a little bit there but I don't care now, I like my stuff. Would love a Baer Valkyrie but that's been baiting us for what, working on 2 years now? If it ever does get here it won't be a big deal either. Might get one a year or 2 later off some rich guy who has to have all the latest and greatest stuff bit has an ego ao big, nothing could satisfy it. I'll buy his for 1/2 price and love it. This thing now....they don't make these anymore, they sound @#*%!?$ awesome and this is the best deal I've seen. I'd rather people sold me old amps like this and didn't even turn them on.....just give me the carcass and let me deal with it.
