Sealed cab bottom end? Top rolling off by 5K? Maybe a little guitar speaker/flatback flavor topend when you want it, fat and clean when you don't? Working on something like that.....involves 215's and an 10 though......

Yep, pretty much exactly what I'm talking about. Wouldn't have to be dead-on the exact same sound as an 810e, but should at least have that kind of frequency response.

The most interesting thing about that Fender is the silent mode/speaker level DI. Not very interested in channel switching or reducing wattage, though I wouldn't object if the new V4B has it. But though I don't really need it, speaker level DI that you don't need to plug in a speaker to use would be quite cool. But really, I think all that any of us want is a V4B that sounds like a V4B.

Since there is so much V4B love going on, here are some pics of a NOS 1979 model that came up a few years ago. Not sure how much it went for. This is a later model and not the one that many consider the most desirable V4B.

Wow! Nice, clean, like new vintage Ampeg gear. Looks about as heavy as lead, though ... the polar opposite of the NEO speakers/Class D amps world we now live in. Speaking of heavy ... when I die, I want to be buried in one of those giant refrigerator V-4B folded horn "W" box 2X15 cabs (loaded w/Altecs, of course).

Two blend-able channels. One inherently natural, one with a bit more Ampeg flavored grind.

Switchable power options. Drop to 25w to drive that clean channel into break up.

No cab needed for DI to record.

I'm sure there is more.

Personally I think one that's as close to the originals as possible but with a couple modern features would be good.

Speaker level DI, user-adjustable bias, and a low power option similar down to 25-30 watts would be good. Speakon as well as 1/4" output jacks. Maybe make the box slightly narrower than the old ones as well so that it'd fit on more of their cabs.

Which cab would you like to see with a reissued V4B? Perhaps a 215 like the earliest model had? The model above came with a 412. I'd like a 215, no question.

When I bought my V4B (1976) I bought it with a B-40 (4X10) cab. I later traded that in on an SVT cab. That V4B/SVT cab combination was truly GREAT! Amazing amount of volume for 100 watts! 2-15s would be very nice though!

does anybody know if that is a sealed 4 X 12 cab for the bass

JohnK has some details on a 71 V4 cab on his web site http://johnkvintageguitars.homestead.com/71V4cab.html . It is a sealed cab. As I recall he had a TB thread discussing a new set of speakers that he installed.

So I hate to say this, but from talking to Ryan over the weekend, I get the feeling that they're not going to announce a new V4B at Summer NAMM after all. He could be giving me the ol' reversal but he was very cryptic when I asked about it, and said he was "testing the waters," and gave me the impression that they're considering it very hard but haven't green lighted it quite yet. So if anyone came away from this thread thinking it was a sure thing and it turns out not to be, it's my fault, not theirs.

They are releasing 100 Heritage B-15's this year. Unfortunately they're already all spoken for, so you'll have to wait till next year.

or the old SVT-II preamp with a 100watt tube power section! Booya!

Jimmy you'd be advised to give Ampeg a heads up that a rehash of the V-4BH is not likely gonna be a welcome addition to their lineup (from what this thread shows anyways)
