You just did. But is it really that bad of an amp? I've never played one, but how far afield could they have gone with it?

I've only played the V-4BH not the original V-4B so I couldn't give an opinion on the difference but there seem to be quite a few people arguing that the difference is quite big?
I quite enjoyed the V-4BH though so I wouldn't say it is a bad sounding head at all, although I did find it quite soft for it's 100watt rating, which was not nearly loud enogh for my needs...
I think most people who are looking for a 100watt tube head are either playing really low volume shows or are looking to saturate the amp for that grindy tone without being ungodly loud, I was doing neither, so I'm probably the wrong target market for the amp entirely

They were just very differently voiced amps. The vintage was more aggressive all around. They could still do clean, but when distorted it was really grindy and mid-focused IMO vs the modern amps which were a bit more polite, for lack of a better word.

Will be interesting for sure! I am happy with my SVT-VR, which I bought after discussing it on TB (here: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f15/ampeg-svt-vs-v4bh-829153/ ). Main thing for me was that the V4BH was about the same size as the SVT-VR head, and I figured I might as well get the extra headroom. Plus I got a really nice deal on the SVT-VR + 810 AV cab through a friend
No V4B? Oh well. There goes my shiny and new V4B. Guess if I want one I'll have to look for a vintage V4B with worn off graphics, and rips in the tolex and front cover.
Oh well....

As a word of encouragement for the Guys who are curious about picking up vintage V-4/V-4B units. They were (according to My amp tech), way overbuilt/designed and are some of the most "numbskull" proof amps ever built. So don't sweat the fact that they aren't new. Properly serviced they'll probably outlast most other amps.
As bad as I hate it, I guess I'll just have to keep using My old one.

Whatever Loud decides to do, I hope that they think things through and come up with a classic 100W tube amp that will stand the test of time. Don't skimp on tone and quality. I have no doubt that the bass community will embrace the right amp wholeheartedly. In my eyes and heart, it would be an original V4B with heavy iron and a 215 cabinet.

If they built a reasonably priced 50 to 100 watt "lunchbox" tube amp it would sell well I think.
Make it mount to the newer PF cabs and it would be golden.

the v4bh is not a "bad" amp at all, its just that its entirely different from the v4b. the "reissue" has a beautiful tone, but half the balls of the original. it makes an excellent recording amp, or intimate setting gig amp, but could never hang in loud rock like the original. plus the tone and heft of the original is similar to the gorgeous detailed sound of an original svt and the reissue just doesnt come close. its a sweet little amp, but no v4b by miles.

Oh, someone asked what it was in reference to the first time. Personally, I don't mind at all. I'm not the that guy. I wish the global economy allowed more companies to profit with an American labor force, but it's not viable, really, these days. That's a discussion for another thread and has been beaten to death
