ampeg love em hate em?

Very one dimensional in sound. Most are incredibly heavy. And most seem to cost much more than they are worth(IMO).

Yes, one dimensional. I`ve played many different heads and cabs of theirs in the past 4-5 years and all of them have the same exact sound(IMO), and I honestly dislike them. They sound flat. No matter what bass I`ve tried through them, same sound. No matter how I worked the eq, same sound. No matter who I heard play through them for me, exact same sound. But hey, if you like sounding like everyone else, be my guest.

If you can`t understand that, then send me over one of your vintage ones for me to try out;)

And if not, then boo-hoo to you!

Now Markbass(which I know you also use), that`s a 2 or 3D brand!:D

Wow, you're a badass, dude. You're right. It's all about the equipment you use that determines how you sound. Has nothing to do at all with how you play. I'm sure you'd sound just like me if you plugged into my rig.

Yep, you da man, dawg.

BTW, got a Markbass. I like it a lot.

As some will know I was an SVT man on the road for many years, then spent thousands trying to convince myself other brands were better - did Mesa 400+, Fender/Sunn, tried Orange, keeping the Markbass...... Now I am back with Ampeg again and I can't stop smiling, it even sounds better to me than it did before. It might have one key sound with a few variations, but what a sound. I have just rediscovered the joys of playing my old 68 Telecaster bass - the VR has just brought it alive.

Quite convenient of you to miss the part where I stated they even sounded the same to me when others played them for me to listen. I know I have my own unique sound and style when I play(everyone does). Anyone who`s played more than a year would know that. That`s why I had others play them for me in stores so that I could better juxtapose my playing to others, and my(being the key word you missed) verdict was that they sound the same no matter who is playing them. In my opinion they all sound flat, dull, and lifeless.

Just because you`re an Ampeg lover doesn`t mean I`m not entitled to my own opinion on the brand and that my opinion can`t differ from yours.

I too have a Markbass and I honestly love it. It lets me sound like myself and it doesn`t muddy up or give grit to my tone like Ampegs. And again, it`s all an opinion thing(as I originally stated), so do me a favor and get off your high horse and stop trying to act like your mister bass know-it-all.
