So i am about to join the ampeg stack family. and i want a versatile amp that will last me a while with minor up grades. say adding a 15 incher in it. what would be a good half stack to start off with that i could customize to make it louder. what would be a good rig.

Didn't get to clock another entry in the "hate 'em" side? Why start a thread asking for Ampeg advice - when you've already decided to buy Ampeg gear - with a title like: "Ampeg love 'em hate 'em"?
That's misleading and confusing. Remind me to never click on your threads again...

That would be like going to a car lot to look at a Jaguar, and the salesman comes up and says "Yeah, that Jag is nice, but how about I show you this Toyota. It's way more reliable."

Humvee, limo, maybe even a Caddy. But definitely not some run of the mill Ford or GM.Ha! True. I can see the GK-Toyota comparison, or Honda maybe, but Ampeg is definitely more like Ford, Chevy, or GM.
We are here today because of Ampeg.

You had to dredge up this nine-month old thread to tell us this? Were you searching for Ampeg threads in which to register your dislike of them?I dislike them in every regard except for their look(which is the last thing I`d even consider on my list of needs in a brand).
Very one dimensional in sound. Most are incredibly heavy. And most seem to cost much more than they are worth(IMO).
One dimensional? Yeah, OK. If an amp is one-dimensional, it ain't the amp.

Wow, you're a badass, dude. You're right. It's all about the equipment you use that determines how you sound. Has nothing to do at all with how you play. I'm sure you'd sound just like me if you plugged into my rig.
Yep, you da man, dawg.
BTW, got a Markbass. I like it a lot.
