Congrats on the deal Jimmy! ;)

This is somethign way off subject, and maybe I missed it (here or on Ampeg's FB page)but have any of the Ampeg folks given any backstory to the selection of "purple" for the speaker, and the lights on the PF's? Just curious if there was something behind it other than "it just looked cool" lol

Just picked up the pf500 and 2 x pf210. Absolutely loving it! Not hearing much about the pf210s but I am really liking them :bassist:

the 2x10's are great too, light, and really good. 2 of them with the 500 would be a killer rig, and possibly less likely to get boomy than the 15", although that is one 15 cabinet that is probably not prime to that as well.

Great rig, congrats. I think I'm gonna take the plunge with a 2x15/500 rig (right after my SB Fender Jazz 6 gets here).

Cheers,
Cameron

Awesome that is going to be a sweet rig as well especially with the SB gratz!

There's a lot more to moving air than speaker size. There is also cone movement (xmax). But if the cone movement of each is in proportion to each other, a 210 and a 115 will have about the same air movement.

I haven't been able to play both the PF115 and 210 side by side, but honestly, I didn't hear a whole lot of difference when I've played them. The PF210 has slightly higher low end specs than the 115, but they're both very B-15-like. I went with the 115 mostly out of tradition, but either would work well. I'd just advise you to get two of the same. I've heard of folks mixing them and liking the results, but the sound out of each is so similar to me that I don't see the point in mixing them. Maybe others feel more strongly about one or the other, but I loved them both and thought they both have the sound.

Oh, and thanks for the nice words, folks! I honestly didn't say nice things to weasel an endorsement from them but because I really like their products and direction. I'll darn sure take it, though, and consider it an honor to represent! Cliff, Roger, Stanley, Jimmy...

(ahem!)

Good to hear, I start to wonder if I missed the boat somehow when it seems like people mostly going 1x15", with my pf210. Especially since I've never gotten to hear them side by side.

I prefer a bit more clarity typically but still have a niggling of a doubt wondering if I shouldnt be putting the "bass into the bass" LOL.

My understanding is 10's are better for the majority of freq's but 15's will give you a tad more low end, I'd thought 10's would be the common choice.

I would like to know how the pf500 sounds with the full stack. How's loud is it with the 2 115 cabs or 2 210 cabs? Appreciate your thoughts on the pf full stack setup. Thanks!

I'm not playing with the PF cabs but I use my PF-500 with ampeg B25B and SWR big bertha cabs regularly. This thing is freaking loud. Period. For one group (with the bertha) if I'm above 9-10 o'clock on the volume (gain around 2 o'clockish) I'm over powering the room (vs mesa triple rec/2x12). For the other group (with the B25B) I'm usually up to about noon on the volume up against a guitarist switching between a marshall vintage modern/4x12 and a fender twin. Haven't had an issue being heard in either situation.

Congrats!!! We might be the only ones so far with full stacks. Or at least we can put our 2 rigs together and have a full Juan Alderete...:D

Here we go :)

Why not consider the gift card as a discount on the 500, so that you're getting it for the price of a 350?
I really like the extra tone shaping on the 500 and it seems like some nice extra features and more watts for just $100 more.
All true. I considered that, too. But I went with the 350 because I don't need the wattage and I love the Micro VR eq because it's so easy to work. I can always use saving an extra hundy. Really hard to go wrong either way, though.

I was thinking the same; I'm looking for a backup/practice amp for when my DB750 is too much. I was considering the Aggy TH500 first, but then these Ampegs cought my attention. I'm still on the fence about PF-350 or PF-500, though. I like the simplicity of the 350, and I assume the difference in volume is not that much.
So Jimmy, tell us if you're satisfied with the 350 when you have it, please?

Exactly what I was thinking. I'm a Simple Man and the less knobs to tweak the better. Plus I would rather have an extra $100 in my pocket! Love the tone of these little heads

Since I alraeady have the Micro VR and the PF350's a Micro VR with 350w, I have a feeling I'll like it ;)
