A few pics of the RB-110.
I may have a guitar tech look into any possible/simple mods whenever I get a chance. lol

It sounds like the RB-210 has the full 500 watts in the combo as it should be. I think its misleading for a company to advertise an amp as having say a '300 watt' power rating for instance and then in the fine print it says 'with an extension cab' you get the full output - fender hartke peevey they have all done that doesn't seem right to me . . . .
It’s the same for Ampeg. According to the manual it’s a 250 watt amp and only does 500 with an 8 ohm extension cab

Then it is in fact a 500 watt amp, as the extra cab doesn’t add power, but just lowers the impedance to take full advantage of the amp’s actual output. Since all amps have different power output depending on the speaker load, this is actually a perfectly valid way of rating the power, IMHO, and every amp manufacturer I know of does it this way.

Incidentally, this misunderstanding is less prevalent with amp heads, as the output depends on what cabs you connect.

With a combo people often expect to get the full power from the built-in speakers, and with smaller combos this is usually true. What many don't realize is that with a larger combo you get far more volume from an extra cab than you would if the built-in speakers handled the entire power output, making it that much more versatile.

Im pretty sure my GK Legacy 212 does 800w internal. They are way more $$ tho.
It's certainly possible to do, and is usually the case with smaller combos. I think the manufacturer's decision would hinge on how useful it would be for the end user.

With the GK Legacy 212, the larger speaker area does make such an arrangement more sensible than with a 210 combo, but it has an unusual spec that I haven't really seen anywhere else. According to the manual it's 800W internal (4 ohms), 800W w/ext. speaker (8 ohms), and 800W w/ext. speaker (4 ohms). Not only is this different from the way most manufacturers (including Ampeg) do it, but it's also different from the other combos in the GK legacy range, with the exception of the 410. So I think we may safely say that it's the exception that proves the rule. :)

I'm looking at the RB110 Combo and I wanted to ask if anyone is still experiencing the hissing noise that I've read about here. I have to play in a quiet setting and want a quiet amp. I haven't heard much lately so maybe it was just on some random amps.

My RB112 has no hiss, but once SGT button engage, still can hear tiny hiss.

But, sadly, the terrible scratching noise return on SGT grid knob again on my RB112 , already Email Ampeg customer service see what best solution they will do for me.

To inspect your knob scratching noise, you just need pluck the open string make long sustain, then tweak those knob . If scratching noise appear, the pot start getting problems.

I open the preamp and found those pot are super tiny compare to regular pot.
I am suspect Yamapeg choice low quality pot for entire Rocket bass line.

I am suspect Yamapeg choice of low price point quality pot for entire Rocket bass line.
Fixed it for you .
Well, I own 4 Rocket's and ALL perform flawlessly. I see nothing of "poor quality" what so ever. There are many factors that can go into why "hiss" and other "problems" are occurring with your amp. Could be a cable, guitar, etc., etc. In fact, I know of several others who own Rockets and no problems. This type of thing (issues, problems) occur often for a variety of reasons that have nothing to do with the amp sometimes, just watch the Mesa Boogie GK threads where some of the electrical engineers are on there giving their perspective through a lifetime of experience working on various amplification from various companies.

My point is the Ampeg Rocket line is not " poor quality " . Better than most lines twice their price . Just a low price point . Corners need to be cut . If this was a Heritage SVT . I would be getting better quality components .
There is nothing wrong with RB's . I would expect hiss . I have a hard believing only component quality is the reason for hiss . Most common thing to cause hiss for any amp is the environment where the amp is .
Sorry if there was a misunderstanding .

I've had my RB-210 for a year or so now, and actually, I'm impressed. Its performed flawlessly in both practices and small gigs. its been in and out of the back of my car on average once a week, and it looks and sounds as good as it was on day one.
Although I had an initial problem - I think that can be put down to mine being one of the first of the production line. a simple fix and its been great.

Was that a tweeter issue?

I just picked up this B-100r. Any suggestions on how to remove the grill and where to get a replacement (even if just the matching cloth)? Thanks in advance.

P.S. I did find that the Ernie Ball caster kit works if you get the one that comes with the new base plates. The stem on the caster is just slightly smaller than the original Ampeg ones, but the base plate has the exact same screw pattern. So, a quick swap and it worked perfectly and only about $20 for the set.
